Question 17 RS - I05 - Adding Wireless Charging

Before the trolls complain and say it's worthless, I have the wireless charging in my 17 ZL1 and it works great for my phone. So I don't need to hear about it not being useful.

I ordered the pad assembly, and the wiring harness needed. The 5A fuse is located in the fuse box in F33 as it is supposed to per the manual. However, it is not working.

I have tried accessory mode as well as vehicle running, but there is no 12v at the fuse. The fuse tests fine. There is no 12v on either side of the fuse. My assumption is that either something is not wired correctly under the dash, or there is some sort of programming option needed in the HMI module. Has anyone completed this mod successfully?

Shouldn't have anything to do with the HMI module. at least i wouldn't think so. I'd check to see if there is another fuse that is needed which is interrupting the power to the F33 fuse. I added a samsung fast charging pad to the cubby hole in mine since i got the charger for free ages ago. Good luck.

I manually jumped 12V to the fuse. Still nothing. I've removed that jumper until the real solution arises. I may talk to the dealer. Maybe there was something missed during the build since it was not supposed to come with wireless charging? I figured the only thing missing was the harness, which I installed.

If it was me. I would just run power directly to the harness and power it that way. Would be alot easier untill you figure out the power issue.

I'll have to know the pins for the charger. Weird colors. Assume black is ground. One is probably signal back to the radio. Not sure which is power. Will probably swap with the one in my ZL1 just to verify the device itself is good.

For those that want it, here's the diagram.

X53A Fuse Block is in the trunk. KR76 Power Relay is built into the Fuse Block and not replaceable. J306 is the connection on the passenger side behind the back seat up against the body. Easiest to explain, about the armpit of a passenger in the right seat. F33 is the 5A fuse in the Fuse Block in the trunk. X330 is the connection under the console that the harness going to the wireless pad is using. If anyone wants the other diagrams for X1 or X2 of the fuse block, let me know.

Ok. For those that care.... This project has turned into a car wiring issue. GM (in their great minds) decided that if your car did not have the K4C wireless charging option (same as some other option types issues), they would not include certain wires in the standard harnesses going from the console to the BCM or the fuse box. As shown in the diagram in my previous post, J306 does not have the wire going to the fuse box and subsequently going to X330 (console harness) pin 2. Easy fix. Place a 5A fused wire jumper between Pin 22 and Pin 2 on that harness. That jumps the 12 V from the cigarette lighter.

Now that the pad has power, the green squiggly line on the radio display needs a signal (Ground). The wire going from the X330 harness pin 1 to pin 3 on the wireless pad is present. However, the wire going from X330 Pin 1 to the BCM X7 pin 24 is not present. Tap off of the X330 harness pin 1 and run this wire under the dash to the BCM. The BCM is easily visible just under the driver side of the dash. There are 7 connections. X7 is the closest connector (Gray) to the pedals. Pin 24 is shown in my pics. There is no wire pin in that connector though. Ether push a stranded wire through so that it makes contact with the BCM pin, or buy the proper pin connector to add to the plug.

The pin that goes into X7 pin 24 of the BCM is GM part 13582297. This includes a crimped end with about a 18 inch wire and a butt connector. Slides into the BCM connector easily.

Well done and great info.
I really am surprised that they haven't figured out that it is easier, and more cost effective to make just one wiring harness and stock that vs. several different ones that have a few less wires. The inventory savings alone should cover the cost of the few extra wires. The cost might even be nil since the manufacturer would just have to make 1 harness instead of 2 or 3 just for a few wire variations.

Thank you sir. Yes, I agree. It is absolutely crazy. But, when there's a will... there's a way.

So true...

Now I'm trying to come up with a way to use that 12v power that's sitting under my console that used to power that charger. I'm gonna have to go back and see what gauge wires they are to see what they could handle.
