2017 fire sales next year ??
It seems there where many of us new Camaro owners that got deals between 15% - 25% off MSRP.
With the recent surge of deals in August, September and Oct do you think GM is educating us to wait until model year end? Or do you think they'll produce fewer units and create more demand for 2017-2018?

+1. Hate to say it, but from a business perspective, the end of year incentives is at its purest form a sign of a missed sales targets. Unfortunately, 2016 ended up being one of the worst years to launch a new performance car since sales are on a sharp downward trend market-wide. It makes no sense to repeat the same mistake twice. Not to say there will not be deals at the end of the year in 2017, but not likely this quite this steep.

Adding 1,000 sales a month is not what I'd call a "surge"...uptick yes..but it's not like the sales increased by 3,000 a month.

Gawd I hope so. I'll have my car paid off by then and wanting to get a sporty 2 door. Camaro is my first pick for that right now.

This doesn't happen every year. If they mis-judge the demand and build too many again - sure. But chances are after a year like this that won't happen.

I think there will be end of year deals again. There almost always are for the majority of cars by the majority of manufacturers. That said, I don't think they'll come anywhere near the deals this year (up to 25% off in some cases with incentive plus dealer discounts). Chevy now has a much better picture of the demand and can match supply accordingly.

I think they will yes. they always overbuild, Thats what the automakers have done for years. Everybody wants to work, and everybody wants to make cars and make money.

I am sure there will be some end of clearance next year as there always is but I am not sure if it will be the same as this year. Seems to me like they really overshot the mark this year, I suspect they will dial it back a bit next year and not have such a surplus inventory. |
