Onstar...would you subscribe if...
They offered a discounted weekend package?
I know a lot of members only use their Camaro's on the weekend or when the weather is appropriate, etc. So if OnStar offered a 'monthly or yearly weekend package only' would you be interested?

Nope. Got AAA roadside assistance. Don't need Onstar.
It's too expensive. |

Why wouldn't you use GM roadside assistance, included with your new car?

My AAA is good whether I am in the Camaro, the Accord or the Blazer...or even in someone else's car. The GM roadside/OnStar are only good when I am in the Camaro. Sure, when in the Camaro I'll use them first, but I am not always in the Camaro.
AAA also provides discounts and services which are not tied to just roadside assistance, and those benefits will often pay for the membership over the course of the year. |

The huge majority of Camaro owners use it as a daily driver, especially the lower trim levels.
What they should do is offer an optional "lower use" package, like 3 free directions a month, then pay per use, so something like that.

I'm not totally useless..

While I like the basic concept, I would hate to be limited to weekends. So I would like to have the flexibility to run during the week. So I think a "timeshare" of "X"-number of days during the month would work...

I would subscribe if the price were under $5/mo (7/24 package). I've had it for two years now (free year x 2 cars) and never used it. It would be nice to have in an emergency, but I wouldn't expect to use it more that once per year - so at current rates it'd cost me $156 each time I use it.

A summer package of some sort would be nice for those of us that put our cars away for the winter.

I would renew Onstar if it was better like SYNC.

I have had OnStar in the past two vehicles. Both times I had OnStar the entire time I had the car just as a precaution although the only thing I really used was the phone feature every now and then if my phone was dead.
OnStar, to me, only really offers phone service, navigation, and road side assistance. The other small things like being able to track the car and unlock if you lock keys inside and such I have never had to use. For the phone service, I just plug my iPhone up to the car radio and use the car as a really big phone! The navigation, I have my little navigation system and it works much better (given how visual of a person I am) than OnStar turn-by-turn. The road side assistance, I have AAA and they are perfect every time I've had to deal with them (not often, but still). So, I still 'have'/'use' OnStar, but it's mostly as a backup plan |

I wish there was some kind of summer package only. They should give it to me free since I have 2 other vehicles with an active On star subscription and don't drive the Camaro that much. 2500 miles in over a year.
