I digress, at the risk of boring many in these rooms.......perusing wide ranging reaction to much anticipated ZL1 gives pause to this Baby Boomer and acquiesce decades past. Mid sixties, 1967 to be more precise....still grateful to a father that taught hard work, good grades has rewards for this high school senior.....Butternut yellow SS396, MSRP $3700 +-. I believe first year Chevy offered 8 track stereo option. I can still recall every song narrated by supplied Lorne Greene demo tape. Weekends......week days were for work.....cruising
main-street and loop through Dairy Queen. GM, Ford, Mopar guys all quick to declare superiority. Though there were foreign car and two seat enthusiasts, the bulk of the cruisers were Pony/muscle cars. Oh, if only more knew about that secretive COPO ordering system! A 13 second car was near or at the top of food chain. With that, few if any could stop or turn. All too soon events whether college, Vietnam, 70's air pump toads thanks to the Feds, new families, careers, change everything. Twenty first century arrives and American Manufactures resurrect horsepower wars and their renditions of modern muscle cars. As a bonus, they now stop and turn while returning respectable MPG along with 11-12 second 1/4 mile times, and 0-60 times our Sixties cars could only dream about. Having owned 3 C6 Vettes, including 1 Z06, I never felt that commadery of muscle car group. I ventured to 6 figure European offerings, and while polished, not the American iron I missed. Then the Camaro ZL1 came along. Whith an interior reminiscent 60's, read staid, the looks and performance made me dream how this car would have dominated anything coming through that Dairy Queen. I enjoy the car more than any of my C6's, and takes me back to that voice of Lorne Greene. Now an even better ZL1 Camaro has been announced. I'll be first in line when orders taken. Not that many more years for this Boomer to enjoy his toys and relive feelings past before lights out.

I quite enjoyed reading that. It put a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your ZL1 when you get it!

Now I really want some Diary Queen. Totally wrong reaction, I know.

Not a big 6th Gen fan BUT the new ZL1 is really nice ! They got rid of those silly nostrils, now only thing left to ditch is the Camry spoiler. BTW ...does the ZL1 rear bumper emblem look MUCH bigger than the SS emblem?

ZL-1....Awesome, to say the least. And this whole 6thGen line-up is really impressive.

Compared to the 5thGen, with the LT, SS, 1LE, Convertibles, Turbo4, and now the ZL-1 all available to choose from basically in the first year is quite a pleasant surprise. There will be far fewer who will wish they had "waited" a while longer before pulling the trigger.

The Z/28, well that's in it's own category....GM must be very confident of the Camaro's future to put out all these models so soon in this generation.

A fully loaded ZL-1 convertible would be my choice to replace the '11, or possibly even keep both for now....Without sounding like a cliché, I don't see how they could top this ZL-1 any time in the near future, if ever....This could really be the last of the affordable hi-po cars.!!!

Reuss, Al O., and all the rest of the aligned stars that make this possible, won't be around forever...

That's the same track configuration I just ran at the Corvette Owner's School early Feb! Lots of fun but a quick lap... I wish it would have had the PDR overlay. I'm sure they will come soon enough...

Interesting...

I need to see performance #s before I fully commit. Not a fan of the wing/rims. But I'm loving what they are doing at GM. I've been waiting for the 6th Gen ZL1. I just need to see comparisons.

Dodge hasn't gotten that memo yet and sadly, it is too late. More people will be buying the ZL1 and the next Camaro more than the hellcats (I got 3 confirmed cases of cancelling hellcat orders for the ZL1 already). I would agree that the hellcat is great for marketing purposes but it's all brute power and it can't even put down that power! Ford is more of a direct competitor and camaro let alone C7s has taken Ford back to the drawing board just to keep up.

I for one am looking forward to seeing the ZL1 in person and learning more about it. The initial release of it sure did answer a lot of questions we have but still left a lot more up in the air, which is quite normal! We will have to be patient and learn everything else in time. We are still learning stuff for the SS and LT... And it's been 5 months since deliveries started happening!

Maybe it's time for me to pick up a pen and start writing again, so I can start having access to stuff like this sooner lol. Feeding my own curiosity would be enough for me to abide by the NDA

I see the ZL1 being my monster in the garage and the SS as my road trip / extremely special vehicle. Looking so forward to all the info that'll be coming up! And let us not forget, the Chevy thunderstorm isn't over. This was just a massive thunder strike. 3/25/16. We shall see what will happen that day
This is coming from a guy whose owned 5, 5th Gen Camaros including the ZL1. What are the hell are you taking about? If you've heard of cases of guys canceling there Hellcat orders is because they never wanted the car in the first place, and or they didn't want to wait that long to get it. Plain and simple. I couldn't wait til the 6th gen ZL1 arrived and now I'm excited. A car enthusiast at heart.

Dodge doesn't need the memo. Brute power? 10.5-10.8 at the track daily with DRs. It's been proven. So slow your roll. You will easily get embarrassed by a Hellcat. Many have, and many will continue.
