It comes down to which one you like more. I have not seen a '16 up close and personal as of yet, so I'm withholding final judgement. I bought my SS at the end of '13 and have been asked many times why I bought the '13 and not the '14 SS, ZL1 or 1LE. My answer is simple, I personally like the looks of the '13 SS better & it had enough power for me at the time. Also, if I want more power, I can add it ...

I love the interiors of the 6th Gen... But I would take a ZL1 in a heartbeat. My local Dealer has one and it's all I can do not to trade my SS for it. I'm kind of waiting hoping they run a 20 percent off sale like they did last year. I could have gotten a ZL1 for what I paid for my SS.

There's absolutely no downsides to the 6th gen unless you don't like the body style at all. It's growing on me and now that we know it's gonna run like a bat outta hell, I like it.

I'd wait on a 2017. If you have to have a new car in the next few months though, your only real option is the ZL1. First year kinks and the likely atrocious markups will be a thing.

It's taking a lot of willpower for me not to place an order for a 2SS in Hyper Blue with the Kalahari interior...

Why would there be dealer markups for a 6th Gen? Nothing earth-shattering about them. It happened in some markets with the 5th Gen because there was a 7 year hiatus. I did have to pay sticker for the SS I ordered in May '09 and thought that was atrocious.

Me too. The 6th Gen looks like a ricer and the ZL-1 is a Monster. As for the new LEDs I don't like a bunch of LEDs on my car, it make them look like a pinball machine on wheels or a fart can wannabe.

But then again I didn't get my car to draw attention I got it because I like to drive it and I like the retro look. Gen6 moves us away from that.

That new 8 speed automatic is awesome, especially for dig racing.

Don't pass judgement on the 6th gen looks until you see it in person. I hated, repeated hated the design of the 6th gen until I saw it in person a few weeks ago. Now I love it. If you have not seen one find out when the next nascar race is near you and go, you don't even have to goto the race, just goto where all the vendors are outside the track to the Chevy display.

That said, i would boil it down to what kind of performance you want in the end. If you want to do alot of modding and crazy HP I think your only choice is the ZL1, But if your good with the C6 numbers plus a little extra you could get with light mods I'd go C6.

Personally right now I would not trade my '13ss for a ZL1. I'll wait to see what the C6 bring in the next few years.

I'm sure most ZL1 owners would say ZL1 and for good reason. I'm excited about the gen 6 tho.

I also am not into lights, and electronic gizmos and prefer the 5th gen interior simplicity over the 6th gens busy interior.

To get me to move out of the Zl1 it would probably take a Zo6, 6th gen is not enough to do it. Even a 6th gen ZL1, should there be one, would have to have a pretty substantial power bump to consider going that route.

The 5th gen Z can be made stupid fast and take it with no issue. Do a search for broken Z's and your not going to dig up much.

Nothing more to say.

It's like asking should I get a used SS or a new LT. Not to mention Gen5 interior is cool. Gen6 is Corvette-like fancy. And what's with the plastic scoop on the hood. From the outside only Camaro owners will know the difference. I think they're headed too slow in the wrong direction. Instead of being a work of art in itself it's now a poor man's Corvette.

I get more people gawking, taking pictures, and commenting on my ZL1 every week than I got in 3.5 years of owning my 2LT.

To answer the OP's question I will have to see and drive the 6th gen in person.

Just got a 2015 ZL1 for 51k a month ago, I was in the same exact debate as you. I figured the new SS would have similar numbers. The 2016 to me looks the same as the 2014, the public wont notice much of a difference.

I choose the ZL1 for a few reasons, it sounds so bad ass even louder than my Dads hellcat. It looks bad ass I love the hood and side skirts ect.. Along with that you get 6 piston brakes in the front, a huge 9 inch rear end. The ZL1 is so easy to mod, you can get 580rwhp for about 2k... I think its a easy choice ZL1!!!

I traded in my 2012 SS for the ZL1. And I thought the same thing people would just think its another camaro but your wrong. I've gotten thumbs up from so many cars, had a dude in a GTR in the parking lot circle around because he saw my ZL1 and wanted to look at it. When anyone hears the engine they look over right away, that alone makes it on a whole different level looks aside.

Edit: Does the 6th Gen SS come with 6 piston brembos in the front?

This pretty much just ended the debate in my opinion. The ZL1 rear end is massive, and alone it costs 4k if you want to buy it. 9.9inches of bad ass!
