No kidding. Is there a GOOD reason for the opening to be so small? The lid goes across the entire rear yet the opening only goes about 70% of the way.

The console and doors also have far less storage capacity and it is more awkwardly positioned. I guess you don't buy a Camaro to haul stuff though.

True - but I would at least like to fit my lawn chair and a decent sized cooler in there.

I don't want to have to take my 2008 2500 HD Crew Cab 4x4 to the cruises and shows just to have something to sit on, under or keep my cooler in!

It would have been nice of them to have the space under the entire trunk lid that lifts up be part of the opening, but they chose to install the hinges in a way that really limits the size of the opening.

Exactly. Just the same way essentially they did on the 5th Gen - it is really a poor design.

I'll agree with that. They'd definitely have to change the hinges/dampeners and tail light housing access to make the trunk opening larger. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to do though...

That trunk opening is disappointing. Oh well.

Does the rear seat fold down or have a pass through on the gen6?

For some reason though, they look like they intrude into the trunk area more on the new model?

Oh well, it is what it is.

Basically edge guards. If you made it out of the trunk trim it would wear out easily as you slid things in and out of the trunk. Most cars have something similar.

Thanks. They just seem oversized to me.

I'm more curious about the thing on the side of the trunk with what looks like a handle. Is that a panel to store a tire jack? My 2011 didn't come with either a jack or a spare tire, just a can of fix-a-flat. Maybe I'm going on too far a limb, but since this is a picture of the grey 6-cylinder 2016 Camaro, it actually has a full spare and the trunk configuration is different? Anybody have shots of the inside of the red SS's trunk?
