Recently I changed from my summer wheels back to my stock wheels with my snow tires. I also put the stock wheels back with the stock lug nuts. I'm now having problems with the passenger rear lug nuts staying tight, the other wheels are fine. I've been checking the lug nut every three days and I have to tighten most of them back down every time. I always use a torque wrench when I do this. Some have been so loose I could turn them with my fingers. Today I found a lug nut missing, I'm at my wits end with this. I'm thinking about loctite. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

How are you torqing the wheels. Car jacked up but tyre still contacting the ground. Threads are clean on the lugs and studs.

The lugs and studs are clean with good threads. I'm torquing the lugs at 110 ft lbs. The car is jacked up with the tire off the ground.

You should tighten your lugs while jacked and then sit it back down on the ground. Then torque your lugs to spec. I always check the torque after the first drive or least the next day. You will probably have a some turn in a couple of them. Be sure the threads are clean too. I myself wouldn't use loc-tite. May cause you some issues breaking them loose in the future.

That 110 140 difference always comes up. My 2012 SS 20" wheels have lug nuts with blue tint cone seats which is 110 lb ft per owners manual. OP, why don't you try swapping sides with the back wheels. Torque then correctly per your owners manual and see what happens. Make sure you are mounting the wheels on the hubs correctly.

Jack the vehicle up. Make sure the hub is clean of rust and corrosion, and make sure the lugs are also clean. Mount the wheel and hand tighten the lugs using a criss-cross pattern. Then using a lug wrench, tighten a little more and lower the tire down until it sits with the weight of the car. Then set your torque wrench to 140lbs and tighten all 5 lugs using the criss-cross pattern again. If the lugs still come loose, then you need to replace the lug nuts.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I'm going to switch the rear wheels around and see if that makes a difference.

Indeed, perhaps the wheel is out of balance, causing shakes. Same could be caused by damaged hub, too.
