They feed the economy no matter what GEO gets rich or where they call home. Chevys are built all over the world along with all the other makes. Where is your cell phone from? If it’s a Samsung, it’s Korean. iPhones are foreign along with just about everything we own.

As a long time car guy, I also thought that Kia/Hyundai were coming up in the world. In 2016 my wife wanted a new SUV and we both liked the looks of the '16 Hyundai Tucsan. We wanted all the bells and whistles so got a Tucsan Limited with Ultimate package. Very nice and lots of tech, a 1.6L Turbo (meh) and 7-speed dual clutch auto. Well we only had it 10 days and the tranny failed 4 times and to the dealer it went and sat, and sat. Found out it was a very common problem and Hyundai was still trying to figure it out. After over a month I had had enough and made them buy it back. Thought about a Mazda CX-5 as I already had a Mazda 6 for a few years and it was flawless but the CX-5 had too little options even in the GT trim. Checked out a new CX-9 and was blow away by the level of luxury in the GT and Signature trim. Got the GT because Soul Red did not come in the Signature trim. Been extremely happy with it since.

It will be a long time before I consider the Korean brands again.

I'd buy an American Cell phone if I could. We have no choice but to now buy a Korean phone. Some would be happy with no choice but to buy a foreign car. I don't fall into that category.

Yes, I know my sig. says '18 CX-9. That is because the '16 was totaled in an accident last fall and we promptly went out and got another one exactly the same, color, trim.... That's how much we liked it...

I'm not as hung up on "only buy American" as I used to be. When I am laying down my hard earned cash, I want the best quality I can afford.

Not only that, how about the components?

Obvious ones...

BREMBO Brakes - Italy (but made in who knows where)
RECARO Brakes - Germany (but made in who knows where)
PHILLIPS HID - Germany
etc

Then there's the little stuff...

License plate bulb, in my 2017, was made by Toshiba (Japan).
GM Dark Tail lamp, made by Magna, was made in Canada.

This is why they say Global Economy.

You can buy American phones. Motorola was making them.

But thanks to people that didn't support them, they are now outsourced.

I was incredibly impressed with the Stinger GT and was ready to pull the trigger until I saw the curb weight in the final specs, and saw it turn a slower time around willow springs than the Focus ST.

Haven't seen stats on the Stinger yet but certain Kia cars like the Optima have more American-sourced parts (75%) than the Camaro (54%) or Mustang (53%). Plenty of "foreign" models have more parts/assembly here than "domestic" models. I get that Kia is headquartered overseas, but I'm guessing the "Buy American" crowd would rather support blue collar assembly workers, and in many cases, the "foreign" brands employ more assembly workers here than their American counterparts.

3,829 (3.3TT)

3,926 ZL1

144lb difference Stinger GT to Camaro SS

So, if the Stinger is a very heavy car - the Camaro SS is? Really quite heavy?

ZL1 must be super colossal heavy.
