Look at the variables involved- driver, automatic versus manual transmission, tires. They are both fast cars and I can see either one winning depending on the variables.

Still, as someone already stated 50K for a Kia, no way for me. I'd of course would choose a Camaro 1SS first, then a Stang GT base over a Stinger and pocket the 12K or invest in aftermarket performance equipment for my SS or Stang GT.

Well, wrong again brother. That is the 2.0l turbo. Not the v6 GT. That is a good run for the base car though.

Im just amazed that Kia's first outing in the performance world gets it in the same conversation with a Mustang GT. That speaks volumes. Besides, the stinger isnt intended to be a competitor for the mustang.

This thread reminds me of when the 3.5 ecoboost in the F150 first came out. The tinfold hat guys were calling its number BS too.

You're right, my bad. However, early testing on 2018 Mustang GT indicates they are getting into the 11s.

Well, that very well could be,but that doesn’t take any away from what the Stinger ,being a 5 door family car, can do. It’s Running with the cars and beating in value the cars it was gunning for. Will that translate to sales? Hard to tell.
That angle isn’t working for the Camaro these days.

That’s going to be Kia’s problem. Overcoming their past. These new cars are no comparison to the Kia of old.

I missed that somewhere. Is it on the video (which I can't play right now)? The way it moved out, I thought it might have the AWD option. And Kia claims 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. The Mustang GT was somewhere around 4.3 to 4.4 for the year, I believe.

So I would say that this is typical drag racing randomness that can happen when one driver nails the launch (or uses launch control) and the other botches it.

As an owner of two v8 Genesis sedans for ~6 years, I'll tell ya two things.

Don't knock 'em until you drive 'em.

The Genesis sedans are S-class features and E-class performance for C-class money. The only knock on the Korea-made models like the Genesis is non-warranty repair costs. Korean sourced parts are S- class money. So don't own one or of warranty.

I agree. Foreign auto makers may be assembling cars over here and employing Americans, but where are the profits going?
