Jim told me about it, I got it to work and then told him how. We both run them now with a couple other guys.

Does a gear change require a tune?

Absolutely. You gonna have to bite the bullet and tune that thing bro.

This would help with roll racing I imagine ...or am I wrong in assuming this?

I'm just curious what fittings are needed/used to loop the diff cooler lines.

Does this mean you could swap the SS 3.73 into an RS-V6?

If you get the correct rear diff it is a direct bolt in with a hub swap. Cooling lines and all. I have about 40 10.00 passes on mine and a 9 sec pass and about as many 1.37-1.38 60ft's so I would say it is plenty strong. I only had 8 miles on mine when I made my first pass. I wish I would have broken it in better. I do think it is slipping some. I have a new one sitting in the garage I need to install at some point and do a proper break in on. My other 10.10 car has one that we beat the piss out of as well with no issues.

I just watched a video the other day about Renick Performance tossing the 3.73 rear end set into an ATS-V A8. Apparently it pulls pretty hard.

I have run the 3.73 in my A8 SS and I can tell you the car was an absolute blast to drive on the street too.

Its all swappable Pinion Flange, Axles, Axle flanges.. I am currently running SS axles and Axle Flanges on the v6 manual 3.27 LSD In my A8 V6 - Its pretty awesome its all so modular, same hubs etc..
I feel like the 3.73 would make the A8 gears way to short the 8l45 and 8l90 trans gearing is slightly diff But I know my 5th gear is like 135mph with the 3.27 going from 120mph 4th gear with the 2.77 - 3.73 would put me around 120 mph in 5th gear leaving me to shift into 6th gear. I know the 8l45 and 8l90 have very close 5th gear ratio 1.26 compared to 1.27 and 6th gear is 1.0 on both. the 3.27 seems perfect your in the powerband but still gives you wiggle room to improve in 5th gear. I am currently trapping 125-126 leaving me some headroom in 5th gear which is nice before I was running out 4th gear right to the end shifting into 5th left me running a bit slower and running out 4th just gave me no head room. Having to shift into 6th with the 3.73 is going to set you lower in your powerband RPM wise as 6th gear is longer then 5th gear. the 3.27 seems to be the sweet spot for the 2.77 Now I just need to get the tune figured out learning this stuff is just as overwhelming as it is fun!
