For those of you with a Procharger

What say you of my thoughts on this for my build in a couple of months? I am having a very renowned local shop put the kit on and tune the car. They are suggesting I put a meth kit, and while I know they work I hate losing my windshield washer resivour and also having to constantly check or add methanol to the tank. I mean what happens if you run out and enter into boost, I dont want the chance of losing the engine over a fail safe failing.

So I am think about going with the PC D-1SC kit, the race surge valve and the race intercooler. This shops standard kit comes with the Stage II intercooler and the standard surge valve. So both of those would be upgrades for me.

Then I am also thinking about adding a 160° stat, the LT4 injectors and LT4 high side pump, I already have the LT4 in-tank pump.

I think for a 91/93 tune this would give me a solid build with reliable power and the ability to stay safe.

This is going on my 2017 Camaro SS-1LE.

1) You won't lose your washer tank. Technically washer fluid is 10-35% meth anyways.

2) They can install a level sensor, so you get a light when its low (or some cars have it on the dash factory)

3) If you run out while you go into boost, hopefully your installing shop has put the fail safes into place to save the motor, and to let you know there is an issue.

If you are going to upgrade the headunit, you may consider a D1X
All the LT4 stuff is a great idea.

Personally I would skip the intercooler upgrade, and put that money towards a camshaft swap for now. (then intercooler upgrade after that) But thats just me.

Rock and roll man!
Enjoy the boost.

Camshaft swap adds a lot of money on to this project. Certainly well in excess of the cost of an IC upgrade. It's a great idea and would help with fueling as well as power but costly.

But the "bang for the buck" is far far far far far greater with the cam then intercooler.

Say the intercooler swap is like $1600
at his power level, he might not see a massive net gain.

Say the camshaft swap is like $3500
he would get a massive gain in power, and fueling.

I personally wouldn't suggest spending the money on the intercooler, until you did something like the camshaft. The STG2 intercooler isn't a bad unit, and when combined with a good meth kit, will be MORE than enough cooling for his needs.

Just my .02

stage 2 IC will do D1SC cooling just fine.

Losing your windshield res for the meth is nothing. Windshield fluid cleans like crap anyway. Stop, get out, whipe the windshield, be done.

If its a huge issue you can always get an alt tank setup. I simply don't like running lines filled with fuel from the rear to the front unless I can map out a path completely clear from exhaust (which is totally possible with our car and has been done countless times by others)

I have an identical setup. D1SC, stage 2 ic, 4.25 pulley, stock cam and AlkyControl single nozzle meth not spraying at its full potential. I laid down 629 on a dynojet

I'm personally inclined to believe that for road course situations where heavy duty, continuous load is applied, I do not think there is such a thing as too much cooling. I personally would go with the intercooler if I were going with a supercharger.

wait does this car already have a kit installed?

I am confused.

If the car is just now getting a blower, then YES order the race intercooler.

I thought the car already had a blower on it.
Sorry about that.

No, the car has not been dropped off yet. It is still N/A and just has ARH catless full headers, PRAY ported IM/TB, Roto-fab CAI and E85. Putting down 431rwhp on 91 and 453 on E60.

So what I am trying to do is get my build formalized so when I do drop the car off I am ready to go. Gonna skip the cam for now, not ready to drop $3k+ into a cam at this point.

If this is a fresh purchase, then yes the race intercooler is a great option.
Since its not a huge uptick in price at time of purchase.

Sorry I thought you already had it and were upgrading. Which would have been much much more.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info and help.

Hoping to drop the car off end of April of beginning of May and then enjoy the ride when it comes back.
