Pound for pound, the Mercedes is a better built car, it's not even close.
Not sure why anyone is trying to criticize a Mercedes, sure it isn't a muscle/sporty car that we're all used to seeing here. Honestly it does look like a family car, but it's a MERCEDES, those things are built with no short cuts taken in any aspect on that vehicle. I have relatives who drive nothing but Mercedes and I feel like a boss whenever I get to go along for the ride.

Mmmk. Well none of what you're saying is factual insight. I know people with Camaro that had more service costs than my friends with Mercedes. Anyone can make a general (ignorant) comment about the maintenance of a higher end car.
That right there is a flat out lie, sorry. You don't know anyone with a Camaro that has had more service costs than people with a Mercedes, if you wanna go that route I can show you links/proof on the horrific costs from Mercedes enthusiasts on some of the AMG forums had to endure.

My uncle's 12 S550 under warranty of course sat in the dealership for almost 2 weeks from his car pulling terrible to the right at times. Dealership couldn't replicate the problem but come on now?...

Mercedes actually makes a factory kit that fixes the problem called the "caster adjustment" and had it installed by the dealer. Even though it was OEM he had to replace front tires (not under warranty) and had to sign a waiver saying that those caster adjustments kits would have to be up to Mercedes discretion or something like that in case there was any required warranty work required and would put the fault on the owner for a non warrantied part. You get the idea.

Shoot... his Mercedes enthusiast posse' had someone with an 07 S550 that complained about his headlights that were supposed to turn everywhere you turned, didn't work. His "Bluetooth ready" car required a $300 adapter. He had both of his OEM Bosch struts at $900 and a $500 service charge to have them swapped out at 60k or 70k I can't remember isn't fun either.

Mercedes ownership isn't for everyone, but if you can afford it... it's an amazing vehicle.

The absolute worst I've seen are those V6 Camaro's engines that just flat out died, which GM repaired under full warranty. I've yet to see anyone on this forum with a significant out of pocket expense. So again, that is a false statement you made.

You're on a Camaro forum. No one said this car was perfect or even matches Mercedes for quality, they're talking about the raw, powerful aspect of it.

You'd get the same response saying you were going to a Z28 or a newer ZL1 Camaro from a Mercedes on the Mercedes forums lol.

What did you expect?

ofc they are amazing cars when newish and under warranty.
problem with german cars is they devalue quickly and cost a fortune to repair..so it dont take long for the repairs to cost more then the car is worth.
i have never owned a german car and never will..my dd car is something cheap to run with a long warranty like hyundai..i then part exchange it the day before the warranty runs out

So, I owned a 2000 Mercedes C280 that was a fantastic car, although the paint didn't seem to have the quality that it should have. I understand the car was 15 years old when I owned it, but my 1997 Mercury Sable with 160k miles on it had paint in better condition.

I also owned a 2008 that handled great, but the shifting was weird and the power delivery was wonky. The paint was very well taken care of, but I could tell it again wasn't the level of quality I was expecting. To cure the shifting and power delivery I got a custom tune for it, but it was nothing compared (and i don't mean in overall power) to the way my Camaro drives.

Now, Mercedes dealerships smoke crack with pricing. I had to get a recall done on the airbags and while at the dealership they said I had two side marker bulbs out (which I already knew). They quoted me $60 to replace them because of course they are special bulbs that only Mercedes stocks or some crap... :P

Both cars had electrical issues with bulbs going out as well.

Why on earth would I buy a mustang or challenger? Cuz I need another boat that doesn't handle and is sub-par manufactured?

Paddle shift, actually... like the automatic camaro... still lame?

I'm sure. That's nice. Try mine. With 2k in mods (a lone tune and filters) this thing already runs with my camaro that has 20k in mods. Super camaro greatness right there.

Another brilliant statement. Nothing I've had to fix on this car yet has cost anymore than parts for the Camaro.

What? You mean the two giant camaro doors that you need an empty parking space next to you in order to not break your ass getting out? Takes away room on the inside? The only person I have ever been able to get in the backseat of the Camaro was my GFs 90 lbs daughter. I can park the Mercedes anywhere, open the door fully without smacking into anything, and comfortably seat four.

It sounds as of you have a severe disdain for GM and your Camaro. Sell it ASAP. BTW, we bought my wife a 2016 BMW X1 M-Sport w/ XDrive in March. I've never owned a German vehicle before, but this thing is pretty cool. The M gets the 8-speed sport transmission with paddle shifters, sport bucket seats, M suspension, M brakes, etc., etc.. If your brakes are anything like these...they are very grabby! They put my Camaro's Brembos to shame. Good luck with the AMG.

You haven't posted on this site in over a year. Your first post back is basically bashing the Camaro talking about how much better your new Mercedes is. What did you expect to happen? Don't act all indignant when it seems your only reason for coming back was to show off your fancy new Mercedes.

Anybody who knows me knows that I hate the 5th gen fanboyism here but I'm not surprised at the responses you're getting. If I went over to the AMG forum and started talking sh*t about their cars I'd expect the same thing.

You probably have about 40k miles before it's gonna cost you a fortune. Hope the ext warranty covers everything. I'm not a foreign car mechanic but a friend at the Mercedes dealer has said they get bad around 80,000. Engine might last and last but the other parts start to go. His recommendation is to trade or sell before that. My best buddy's Audi fell apart at 75k. They're also twice the price. Not for me but good luck.

To me, the comparison is silly. Apples to oranges. I would never expect to get in a Camaro and feel the same way in a Euro luxury performer. A 2016 SS might be closer, but muscle and luxury don't compare. I'm not sure why you are surprised. It's like saying dang, this Spark is uncomfortable now that I have my Equinox. Well, duh.

Sell your Camaro and enjoy the Mercedes
