Any 1/2 Mile or 1 Mile Airstrip events in the Northeast?
Hi All,
I would love to stretch my SS's legs, and see some 140+mph runs, but I refuse to do so on a public road. Does anybody know of any events or tracks/airports that allow for something like this is NJ or PA? I have seen videos online of events held at airports that are either 1/2 mile or longer, and open to the public. does anyone know of anything like this around the North East? |

Well, there's the Loring Timing Association at a former SAC base in Maine, but you will not be allowed over 135mph without a roll cage.

To reach over 140 with a stock SS will probably take more than a half mile from a standing start, based on what guys have posted from half-mile events. There is one venue for standing mile in the northeast, at Loring in Limestone, ME. Website is here https://www.loringtiming.com/ .
There is an event next week, tech 29th to Sept 1st and racing Wed through Friday. Supercar class would allow you to run your 2022 SS full throttle to the mile without installing a rollcage, contact them for current technical requirements (Snell 2015 or newer helmet, and whatever else is needed). My 2017 SS A8, when it was stock, ran 160.8 in the standing mile, for a point of reference. |
