Front License Plate Bracket Removal
Is anyone familiar with how to remove the screw/plug pictured below? I unfortunately live in a state that requires front plates .
I just picked up my 2SS two weeks ago and was fortunate enough to find an end of year deal, but was fortunate to buy from a dealer that applies front plates to all of their cars I just received some bumper plugs and was removing my front plate, when I ran into the following plug/screw and was stumped on how to safely remove them. Wasn't sure if it was a plug and if it was safe to pry them out or if it was a special screw that I needed to find a bit for. I went by Home Depot, but they were clueless as to any bit that would fit what I took a picture of. That sucks! All the dealers around here don't put front brackets on their performance cars even though they are required in my state to. They let the customer put them on or for most cars there are different ways than bumper attachment.

Gonna have to carefully drill those rivets out. And there’s plugs out there you can buy so it doesn’t look like shit with holes.

IIRC I used a 1/4" or maybe a 3/16"? To drill out the rivet.
Then went to ACE Hardware and found a couple of 3/16" or 1/4" plastic plugs. Worked like a charm. Then bought a Show n Stow , frt plate bracket. |

They look pretty nice. I'll probably take the advice and slowly drill out the rivets and put the plugs in tonight. |

Thanks for the drill bit recommendations. Going to try the 3/16 at first and see how it goes

Worked like a charm! Was a lot easier than I thought it was going to go lol. Bumper plugs went in smoothly and look a billion times better.
Did find some minor scuff marks behind the old bracket, but I'll try and buff out what I can tomorrow or when it stops raining. |

I drilled through a little far on the right rivet. Accidentally. Is there anything behind there I could’ve damaged?

Nope. There's just a piece of plastic between the fascia and the actual bumper. No worries!
