Not as base to base V8s are concerned.

Not on paper. But I have seen 4th gen ls1 cars dyno to the wheels higher than ls1 corvettes. And the corvette was rated at 350 hp and the 4th gen 310 depending on year and model etc. I think some of the later ls1 ss and ws6 cars got up to 345 hp. But they all put down and run pretty close to the same numbers other factors being equal. 01-02 cars typically make a bit more hp due to an ls6 intake. The 4th gen sustains less drive train loss using a solid rear axle. But the ls1 was essentially the same in both cars. Under rating was a lot more common until a lot of the standards changed from around 04-07.

different dynos will always give different results.. we're talking about ratings... Chevy won't give the Camaro more than the Vet on paper... never has, never will

I'd bet money the Gen6 SS will come in at 455hp with the TRI y manifolds and dual mode exhaust. Right at the vette's 455hp then the vette owner can still opt for the dual mode exhaust for 460hp.

I am calling 460hp out the gates without performance exhaust for a 475-480 HP with options.
That will leave the corvette guys with with a 500 HP bump for 2016 without performance exhaust and a 510 HP with options.
Thus, giving the Z06, ZL1 a 700+ number to shut the HELLCAT up once and for all. Ok, maybe not once and for all, but for a couple years I am sure...

While slightly high, I tend to agree. Goes back to what I said before. Why go through the effort time and money to keep the same HP numbers? It will get a bump with the tri-y's or why bother? 10-15 hp is reasonable. Pushing the vette close to 500 and leaving room for the more restrictive design of the 6th gen to get not less than the advertised 460 hp if not slightly more.

The Camaro will make no less then 460hp and 460tq. As for the Corvette who cares? because the people who build the Camaro don't.

I don't see the vette going to 500 hp for 2016 leaving room for the camaro to bump up to a maximum of 480. I can see the vette MAYBE going to 475 and the camaro hitting 460 with the tri's and performance exhaust.

I also don't see the future ZL1 going over 650hp. Even at 650hp it would give a hellcat a run for the money if not beat it in the 1/4 and destroy it on the track.

I still don't understand why people don't think the Camaro will match the Vette for hp. It may be a few hp shy only because of the longer exhaust and different intake. But I bet it's more than 460. The headers should give it a bump in power. It doesn't make sense to design manifolds to match the current power. If that was the goal take the 5 hp loss and save the r&d costs.

I think the 6gen will dominate heavily in this segment for 2016. However, I can see the gt350 and 500 giving us a good run for our money in 2017. This is why I am thinking gm might break 700 hp with the zl1 in 2017. You know damn well Ford will. I am not really too worried about dodge anymore, I think they are damn close to maxed out.

I think dodge is going to be forced into a serious weight lose training program if it wants to contend at all in 2016... Even with only 485 horses, I can see the gen6ss going hard at it.

I think those pics we saw with the headers, etc were all for the upgraded 1LE and not the regular SS verison.. remember when Ford came out the the Boss302? it had a bit more HP than the regular GT.

Now I do think that MAYBE there COULD be an increase more if the 16 Vet comes out with more but I doubt it

Just because historically the base camaro SS has never had more hp than the base corvette, doesn't mean it will be that way forever.

The times, they could be a-changin'.
