I like the 6th gen. I am still not a fan of its interior, but I've seen worse. I don't have plans to buy one.

I'd probably fall in love with the extra power, and the interior looks nice (except for the ridiculous cowls over the gauges), but the quality issues and absence of even a partially usable back seat most likely rule it out for me.

6gen technical and economical probably the better choice,
but is more build as a "world"car.
Its trying to match the more boring Audi,s and Bmw,s.
5gen is a bit to extreem to be a everybodys friend and wont sell in for example Europe cause its not boring enough.
My choice is clear

Well...if you compare red tag prices, it is. I got mine for $18.9K before tax and license. A 6th gen with the LGX V6 (upgrade) is almost near $30K. $27K is the cheapest I've seen them go for and that's with the base 4cyl. Back in '15 when I bought mine, SS's were going for around $30-32K for a base L99 V8. 6th gens are a lot more expensive. Heck, you got the new RS's eclipsing $40K. $40K for a 6th gen Camaro RS. Crazy!

The LFX engines future seems bright. I probably won't upgrade for many years

My brother just bought a 6th gen SS and I have a 5th gen SS, The 6th gen is more a pure sports car than the 5th gen- which to me behaves more like a grand tourer with a stiff ride. The 6th gen is hands down a better performer and has a way better interior in terms of quality but it's also not was well laid out, esp the AC vents, which are perfectly placed and sized to swallow a cell phone or glasses that get launched from the cupholder upon a hard braking session. It's slightly easier to see out of but at the same time you are in there pretty snug, has real huggy seats and little in the way of leg room.

There's more to it than that, you're getting a lighter, faster, more agile vehicle. Also, there's more electronics in the car, = $$.

I like it, my buddy has a 16' 1SS auto. I'm considering a ZL1, but I'm keeping my 1LE.

Just to add to this thread. The other things I noticed while looking at the specifications is that the 6th gen is smaller width wise as well. Apparently leg room has increased slightly however, trunk space has decreased compared to the 5th gen as well.

God forbid progress happens huh? The 6th gen SS out performs the 5th in every concievable measurable. I get the nostalgia aspect, but the car is a performer and I like the edgy look. Both gens are great and very appealling. There will always be these types of debates among enthusiasts, the weird part is it brother v brother. People that can't repect the attributes piss me off.

I respect the 6th gen and yes it definitely is faster than the 5th gen in all respects. Motor Trend just a tested 2017 Camaro 1LE V6 and it actually beat the V8 Challenger RT for a lap time around Willow Springs. That's pretty impressive along with beating some other cars I can't remember about at the moment.

As for performance, yes its progressed along with fuel economy. I don't like the fact that it appears to be smaller though than the 5th Gen. Typically smaller width means less shoulder/hip room. I do like the wheels and the blue color on the 6th Gens as well though.

I guess for me it was looks and performance vs price. I bought a new 2015 a year ago 2SS/RS after discounts for about 34k, sticker was almost 43K I have not seen these kind of discounts on the gen 6. I will have to see much deeper discounts before I consider a Gen 6. For now I'm happy with my gen 5. I will only pay so much to play. It is faster and an upgrade but not worth another 10K to me. In fact if I was to trade up I'm guessing I would have to come up with another 15k to 17K. Mine only has 4300 miles on it. Can't justify the added cost for a few 10th's of a second in acceleration. IMO
