Sun City has been here since the 60's and features older single level, well kept homes. If you google Sun City, you'll receive lots of info. Sun City West is a much newer section with new amenities. Lots of car people live there too. The Sun Cities are between Peoria and Surprise.

I am not familiar with taxes in Boston, but they are probably similar to where I am from, Baltimore, MD. Property taxes out here are much less as is income tax. However, sales tax is much higher here, but Sales tax in Sun City is less than in Peoria. There are no schools in Sun City.

If you happen to find an address here in the west valley that interests you, I can go check it out when I have some free time. But I highly recommend you and hubby spend some time out here before living out here. AZ is not for everyone, but winters here can be intoxicating. Summer can be brutal if you cannot tolerate the heat. I have adapted to it.

Guess I'll just have to stay in Tennessee where I can have my house paid off before I retire. Too rich for my blood.

Thanks, great info, I'll check it out later. Love the idea of a town with no school, actually like a community with a minimum of age like 50, No Kids Allowed.

I love the heat, Texas girl, so I'm use to temps in the 90s w/90% humidity. So w/that Dry Heat I can always wear a sweater! Thanks again, like the price range as well.

Been taking it easy this week during semester break and letting my ankle heal...not 100% but much improved. Marking student work and about 3 hours on Saturday should wrap it up. Due to ankle issues and weather was holding off on errands until Friday when we are not suppose to have snow. Was suppose to snow today, none yet, Friday suppose to be clear...won't bet on it, Sat. / Sun. snow. Frankly, have not seen the weather network ever get it this wrong in many years. Still trying to find that damn groundhog!

Sorry for everyone in the southern states as you don't know how to deal with this kind of cold, ice, snow. Recently a vendor I ordered stuff was being nice on a trip to Toronto and was going to mail from Toronto to save me customs fees. Her trip included a stop in Nashville to visit family, got stuck for a few days, blew off Toronto and headed home. Told her I fully understand and thanks for the thought to save me customs fees. I did not ask her why she was visiting friends and family during the winter. I use to spend time in Dec. during semester breaks visiting friends & family in VA, SC, NC. Last time I did that was winter 2005, too stressful trying to travel during winter months.

Hope your ankle continues to heal. Be careful out there so as not to reinjure.

Looks like I made the drive in to work today for no reason other than saving me a paid day off. Not one client has shown up so far & not looking good for the last one. I can't say I blame them. I would not want to take a preschooler out in these bitter cold temps & wind. Looks like I'll be heading home by 3:30.

Sun City and Sun City West would probably be what you are looking for then. Home prices start in the $100's and go from there.

At least you are getting off early.

I'll be getting off early tomorrow too. We are heading up to Sedona for a Valentines/Birthday get away. I can't wait!

Oh, it is about 5-10 degrees cooler up there, so I will have to wear jeans and a hoodie.

Home & now I'm stuffed! Mike put some home made chili on to cook slowly all day & it tasted so good after coming in from the deep freeze that I ate too much. Now they are calling for tomorrow's winter precip to come in earlier than they were saying. Now maybe 2 inches of snow before noon then sleet turning to freezing rain. I called all my afternoon clients letting them know to call before leaving for their appointments to be sure we are there as it is possible we will try to close early. I was not able to get one, one will call tomorrow & the others cancelled. So tomorrow may also be a short day.

It is 12 now with a wind chill of zero. It was worse roads coming home today than it was this morning. I actually slid a little coming around a sharp corner where it goes under a RR underpass. It made me smile though as I handled it so smoothly. It amused me that now that I have driven my Camaro in a spirited manner enough to know the feel of a loose rear end & know how to handle it. Before, I would have felt panic & may have reacted too sharply or at the very least would have had an accelerated heart rate for a while. It did not bother me in the least today (mind you it was just a slightly loose rear slide briefly) actually giving me a slight permagrin thinking about it.

My wife and I may consider Arizona as a retirement home. I will visit first in the summer so I can get a good idea of what the heat is like. I think I have forgotten what summer feels like now. Current temperature is -9 wind chills are -40 it has not been above freezing here in 23 days.

I need to find someplace more moderate in climate. I know I can't take the heat in the summer and I sure don't like the winter here this year. California would be okay except for it's political climate. Not sure where that leaves me?

We like it here. Political climate is weird here too, but I guess that can happen almost everywhere.

Tucson is a bit cooler vs. here in Phoenix, but Tucson is definitely a different vibe vs. here. Some folks like Prescott, but they get snow up there.

It's easier for my body to endure 100+ degree temps vs. what some of you are enduring. Don't think I could function below 30* anymore. Nine months out of the year are awesome here so I can put up with 3 months of heat and haboobs.

Good morning. Ice storm warning here starting at noon. I will be heading home when that mess starts. I just hope we don't end up losing power. HAGD crew.

Be careful out there during this next storm, freezing rain is the worst no matter what you are driving
