HP for 200mph
How much HP is needed to attain 200 mph? Ready to mod the 6MT ZL1, but more interested in top speed, so I can check off bucket list item. Don't intend to go crazy on mods, but will do enough to achieve goal.

650 HP in a 10 speed coupe with a very slight tailwind or downgrade. Stock Zl1 has achieved 198 mph one way and slightly over 200 the other way.

You need to ask yourself, do you have enough room to hit 200 mph. The car has the HP to do it.

To do it in a standing mile would take somewhere around 1300-1400hp would be my guess.
My buddy has an 09 ZR1 that hit 202 at the Texas Mile last spring and he is pushing close to 1000whp when he sprays it. |

This is why the 6th gear was replaced in the ZL1 1LE with something shorter. However, thanks to the shorter wheels/tires, and aero pieces it would need to be spinning at 6550rpms to be at 200mph, and it'd need more hp to get there.
In order to reach 200 mph in a standard M6 ZL1 you would need (I'm guessing) several hundred more hp...and a LOT of distance to achieve 200mph. 6th is geared for fuel economy, not top speed. The A10 ZL1 is your tool for a top speed run. |
