Four Year Rattle Chase...

i have a 2013 rs convertible that had a really annoying rattle in the driver door since the day i picked it up. took it to the dealer for a couple of other issues and had them take a look to no avail. i've had the door panel off myself four times, padding, fiddling, doing whatever might help. finally found the culprit. the cable/wire that operates the power door lock has a couple of plastic ties holding it to the metal door frame. they were loose enough to allow the fabric-covered cable to make contact with the door metal deep inside the door. after getting rid of the cheap factory cable-holders and using large cable zip ties, my car is now as solid as a brick over sharp bumps. just thought this info might help someone...

I had a similarly frustrating rattle issue on my 2001 GMC Sierra pickup years ago when I changed manual windows to electric. Had a rattle at low speed (less than 40 mph) and only when the window was all the way up. I chased it for years, too. Just like you I tried all kinds of things. It also ended up being a cable against metal.

I had the same problem as I was driving. I fixed the problem by pulling out the part number tag that is inside the convertible top by the passenger side.

I took her out of her slumber for a brief ride today and I have a pronounced rattle somewhere on the passenger side. I was thinking the panel when the roof latches but it seems more over the headrest by the quarter window. Hard to narrow down as I was driving solo. This sound familiar to anyone else?

Thanks.

That panel where the top handle folds into has inserts that break out and cause a rattle. There is a discussion on it in the forum somewhere. I had 3 broke, part was $40 on Amazon and took 30 mins to changes. P/n is in the discussion too. Good luck

I've read about that issue but this seems to be different. The rattling appears to be in the top somewhere around the passenger headrest area.

For whatever it's worth, the dealership fixed the rattle on my car today. Some clips on the passenger's side of the convertible top became loose. I asked to speak with the technician who worked on it, to get more information, but he wasn't in at the time.
They had to have two technicians in the car while driving it, to pinpoint the location, so I suggest trying that too.
