Nah man. If this was a private sale, this wouldn't be an issue.

The dealer is just trying to not have to lay out any of their own money and time on the deal. I am sure they have plenty of connections to get these parts replaced with stock cheap (and used) if they wanted.

I agree...You are no better than your word and that's all that many of us have left...Worst case is they flash the ECM and charge you in labor...Do you have their car in your possession or is everything stalled until you demod your trade in...Karma flows both ways...

Just take the stock parts back to dealer with the car. unless you were counting on recouping your mod money, let their mechs make it right. it is only costing them labor at that point.

They want to charge me 4.8hrs labor if I let them do it. The sale is done bit I need to get this resolved. The worst thing would be for them to cancel their check and I would have two car payments...

Demod the car and tell them you have no way of putting the stock tune back on the car. That should not be too much for them to handle.

From what I understand all the mail in tunes have a factory flash on the tuners. So say I use dyno Steve's services and buy a tuner. he says it can be flashedback to stock tune with the tuner. So id assume he could sell a tuner with a stock tune on it.

Unless the dealer has it in writing tell them to go pound sand.
I'm no lawyer (thank God), but at this point it's their problem imo.

Bizarre for a dealer to complain about upgraded headers and a CAI. For most potential buyers those are welcome upgrades! And doubt that would cause a CEL unless the CEL came on after these upgrades were done.

Don't take this wrong, but it sounds like you already sort of scum bagged the dealership when you didn't follow through with your word.
The dealership is probably mostly concerned about the CEL.
For all they know the CEL could be coming on for something other than the exhaust and CAI.
You told them you would take care of it and you didn't.
Honestly, if they're willing to do the work and follow through on their end I think I'd just pay them the $500.oo or so dollars be done with it. Headache solved.

I in no way am trying to screw them over. I know the CEL is because of o2 sensor from headers. I am willing to demod the car for them and they can re flash it. I could probably tell them to take a hike if I really wanted to

Pull the ECU, send to someone like Frost and ask them to flash it back to stock settings, and tell the dealership they are paying for this to be performed.

I just have a few points to make.

- Lemon laws are for NEW cars only in most states.
- Mods only not "worth it" to people who care about resale value.
- Making this deal was a very stupid thing to do and I hope you learned a valuable lesson here.
- Making promises you can't keep in a business deal makes you a douche. Keep your word.
- Since you can't squirt the milk back in the cow, the best course of action from this point is to put your stock parts back on and tell the dealer to re-flash the ECU. It takes minutes and they are better equipped to do this than you are. Then you can cut your losses and enjoy your new car a little wiser than you were yesterday.

Give the headers to someone in exchange for returning the car to stock. If the cell is cat related, stock manifolds and cats should relieve the cell with a battery disconnect. ..forget the tune and the car

Probably the best solution to this.

I just cannot believe they want to charge him labor to put stock parts back on a car that THEY now own. The balls of some of these dealerships.

If the dealership was intending to send to auction, this wouldn't even be an issue. I am nearly 100% certain this is all because they want the car on their lot. Most dealerships will not sell a modded car on their lot. Unless it is a 'name brand' modding, such as a Callaway car. Usually the problem comes down to warranty. Not factory, but some states require a 30 day or some other form of non-factory warranty on used cars.

Mr. T1982 - Do us all a favor please and update this post once the deal is done and let us know how it all turned out.

Good luck man!
