Yup and your fob will be held on by a key ring.

Thats why I am getting only one done,to satisfy the Gov and possibly my Ins Co.

I got my notice a little over a week ago. Took my car in to the dealer last Friday to have them resolve the "Service Airbag" issue (which they still have not resolved). At the time I brought my car in, I was told that they (the dealer) are required to switch out the key. I, then, told them I cannot be forced to make that change but I'd do it to keep tempers from flaring.

They simply remove the key from your existing fob so you no longer have the switchblade action. They then give you two one-piece keys, similar to the image above, attached to you existing fob by a key ring. I still have a couple of spare switchblade keys and they still work. So I know have four keys instead of two.

For what it's worth, my key looks exactly like what's shown in this piece.

A bit off topic..but, does anyone know if GM has any plans to add push button start to the 2016 Camaro? This key/ignition debacle has me ready to look elsewhere for my next sporty vehicle.

Exactly. I got the feeling it was sort of "we won't service your vehicle if you don't let us replace your key type" situation.

Nope, I got my letter two weeks ago. I just got some warranty work done and nothing was even mention about the recall.

By law they have to do the recall if they have the opportunity.

Can you imagine the shit storm if you left the dealership and crashed because of the ignition key?

They are covering their own asses, just like I am doing by getting it done.

Throw the recall notices in the circular file and carry on.
