I can always trade my car into a dealership in the U.S. though in order to help avoid getting totally screwed on the exchange rate, it’s just that not every U.S. dealership will take a Canadian car, plus the logistical difficulty of making the deal... ie. driving the car down for them to see it, then making the deal before taking it back to the border to import it into America... or having a 3rd party confirm it’s condition, then making a deal, then importing the car to America. But I figure it’s worth it!

That is only $68 in USD, $89 in Canadian.

Well, good luck on getting the right color. That is going to be tough. Can't you order one?

Just bought a 2017 2SS last year and don’t really want to buy back to back new cars with all that depreciation, it’s like spending more than $10k just to drive my current car for 1 year, plus from what I see in the forum here, Canadian orders seem to be taking a really long time to be filled and a very long time before receiving their orders and I’d like to have one for this summer.

The dealer I saw in Phoenix said I’d get around $30,000 USD on trade

Just read a thread marked Canadian TPW’s and ZL1’s ordered in July and September of 2017 aren’t expected to be built until the spring, add shipping time to that and that’s almost 1 year after ordering!

Beyond that, the biggest hurdle may be first trying to find a dealer that actually has ZL1 allocation and then being honest about it! My dealer was fantastic, but even then it took 9 months!

If you get what you want, then do it. Even just ordering most anything takes 3-4 months.

Go to RIV.ca to learn about admissibility and the steps for importing a ZL1. I haven't imported for a few years now but I believe you have to have a broker now for the US paperwork. I used to do it myself. That's a minor expense. I believe you still have to submit the paperwork 72 hrs to the US side before crossing. You'll have to pay GST and provincial taxes at the border. The RIV inspection and your done. In order yo trade your vehicle in at a US dealer you would need to export your car at the time of crossing.
NO duty needs to be paid as it is built in North America. ...at least while we still have NAFTA. TRUE. No warranty for the first 12000kms and one year. Oh ya , you'll need to get your hands on a recall clearance letter. Last edited by Trackman; 03-18-2018 at 10:56 AM. |
