But you absolutely CAN change the NPP valves when the car is OFF. I have a 6M and If you hold the start button for 5 seconds WITHOUT pushing in the clutch you can hear the fuel system pressurize and "MYlink" will come on. At this time you can change the NPP valves to any setting between Stealth and Track before you start the car, under the "engine sound management" function. I do it all the time as I often leave my garage at midnight or later. In "Stealth" mode the car does NOT give off the bark when it starts. Not even a little. In "tour" "sport" and "track" it does. Then as you said after a few seconds in "tour" it quiets down. Not so much in sport or track modes. So long story short, if you put the "ESM" on stealth it will always start and be quiet. You just can't drive with the "ESM" on stealth if the vehicle is in "track" mode, per the owners manual.
Finally someone knows what they're talking about!

I think you are right. The Vette works so you can start it quietly in tour but switch to sport or start in sport and get the bark. I think they dropped the ball on ours.

All you have to do is push the start button for 5 sec (without your foot on the brake) so MyLink and gauges start up. Set the mode to snow/ice (which is tied to stealth) and start the car. It starts in stealth mode. Then just switch to whatever you want once you leave the neighborhood. I do this every morning.

Come on guys, Join the I don't give a F*** club and pull the fuse!!! J/K but in all reality if i didn't have such prick neighbors who like to rev their Harley's up all morning for the hell of it i might not have pulled the fuse. I let it bark and echo through my garage for a bit and slowly put my middle finger up facing the next house while i rev my LT1 with NPP kicking out some steam. Starts my day off right every time!

WHat do you guys think about starting teh car with the valves closed using a mild2wild? I think it would FOR SURE keep the valves shut eh? I've been thinking about this for awhile. Do you think there would be any repurcussions if I had lets say a borla atak catback with headers, starting the car with valves closed in the morning? Would there be some kind of..... i dont know, back pressure or something that could be an issue?

I typically get home around 4-5 AM and park in the garage and put the car in stealth mode before coming down my street . Not wanting to wake the wife and kids as pull up the driveway into the garage . stealth makes a nibble not a bite on start up , unlike all the other modes .

They are operated by engine vacuum, which is not present at start-up.

NPP always open before vacuum generated.

Update: Ignore this info

I thought Gen 6 NPP valves use electric motors, now?

Does anyone know which exhaust is quieter, the standard exhaust versus the dual mode exhaust?
