G'day from Down Under
Hi Guys.
I've been a lurker here for about a month now, while I've been sorting out buying a 2013 Zl1M6 in Cyber Grey. I've wanted a ZL1 for over a year now. In fact, I've hired them during business trips to the US just to see if it was the right car for me What slowed me down is that the local performance arm of GM here (called HSV) was bringing out a model here with the LSA engine and Powertrain called a GTS. So I thought I should check that out.... Unfortunately (for them) the new styling didn't push my buttons, so I pulled the trigger on a ZL1 Here's a couple of pic's of my new ride with my old ride: My old ride is a HSV W427. It's based on the GM Holden Commodore and has the Corvette Z06 7litre engine and M6 transmission in it. It's been a sweet and faithful ride. Now here's the WTF pic for you... Because I'm in Australia, the car must be Right Hand Drive... So the car had to be stripped down, a new dash made, wiring changed, a new steering rack built etc... A big job. (Aka expensive) I've got a few mods planned for the Beast.... The first one is the lighting. The headlights on this car are really dim and yellow. So I'm on the upgrade path already and I'm wanting to get some more output out of the DRL's and get the patch harness so they can be on with the main headlights. With this amount of horsepower, I have to be able to see where I'm going at night. I have to be able to see the Kangaroo's if I'm going to dodge them!!! Thanks Guys.
BTW, I didn't trade the old ride. He's going up on blocks for a bit of a rest... The W427's are a very limited build of only 133 cars and so are collectibles over here. Cheers Brad |

That's crazy looking to see a right hand drive Camaro. Does the HUD work as well?

If it's loud enough the 'roos should hear you first!
Congrats to you! Your mates should be jealous, that's quite a stable you're building! Cheers!

Congrats on your new Z! Question, did GM do the dash and change over to the right hand drive or did you have to have an outside source do that? You said it was expensive,so I am sitting down, How expensive?

Very cool. Had a right hand drive Nissan while I was stationed overseas. Shifting was the hardest thing to get use to. My Brain just refused to make it make sense...

RHD vehicles are still built here including Jeeps for the U.S./ Post office for rural delivery and for the misquito commission for spraying chemicals into storm drains on right side of roads. Also subaru builds RHD's for specialty use.

Hey Brad,
I have a couple of aussie friends that are now in Hawaii. I had both of them ride in my ZL1 and drive my 2SS. They both loved it and we discussed what Australia requires for converting a new car. All I have to say is congrats and well done. I know they will be looking for you to see what you have done with it. It looks great and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
