I was with a girl a while back and we ended up getting engaged. As soon as she got the ring she changed. She started throwing around ultimatums. I'm guessing she figured that since she had the ring things were a done deal and she could control me.

When we first started dating I had a 1987 Camaro and a few years later I ended up selling it. I always wanted to get another third gen someday. Shortly after we became engaged I was talking about it and her reply was, "You don't need it. If you get it I'm gone." I explained that I would save up for it and not get it till I could afford it. Her reply was the same. I also play guitar and I'm a huge Jimi Hendrix fan. There was a Hendrix tribute guitar that I wanted. It was $1200 and I saved up the money for it. Her reply when I told her I was getting it was, "It's either me or the guitar. If you buy it I'm gone." Needless to say I bought the guitar, and two years later I bought a 1992 Z28. Her. Well, she was told to hit the bricks a few weeks after her ultimatum on the guitar. I thought about it and knew if she was going to be like this over a $1200 purchase that maybe she wasn't the "one" and I ended it. Like somebody else said in this thread, life is too short for things like that.

usually ultimatums are a clear future warning sign for her insecurities that will pop up and cause problems no matter what the situation is. Compromise and understanding is the key to relationships. I've learned this from experience myself. If she can't share your passions with you or let you pursue your dreams, then usually it aint meant to be

My wife is totally NOT into cars. She just doesn't understand what all the fuss is about. BUT, she totally encouraged me to get the car of my dreams because she knows how much of a car guy I am. And, she is totally excited about our new Camaro, not because she loves it like I do, but because she loves me and loves to see me happy.

That's awesome. My wife is totally into cars so I consider myself very fortunate since my girlfriend could care less.

My GF was pissed that I got a camaro. Shes got two little girls and they barely fit in the back seat as it is.

Gf said "you could have got somthing more family friendly!" She drives a ford escape fully loaded. She can drive the family vehicle! This way if we ever split. Im stuck being a good lookin' bachelor with a camaro and not a family vehicle!

There's a internet Meme that says something like..

"No matter how hot she is, someone somewhere is tired of putting up with her shit".

Never heard anyone say that about a Camaro.

Had THAT girlfriend. Hot train wreck. No bueno. Left the train to crazy town at the station.
I heard a variation on that with sexual overtones.

I have lived through a couple 'hot train wrecks' as well. Seems like if they are smoking they are used to having their way...on everything.

Age and experience tells us that doesn't make for a happy life.

Sounds like my current girlfriend. Although, I got my car 6/23/16 and just last week she ended up getting a slightly used 2015 ATS with very low miles. It was really out of the blue but she wanted a car with AWD (no SUV's). I saw it pop up somehow and showed it to her she drove it one day then bought it two days later. My neighbors are going to think we hit the lottery or something.

How do you like the Cadillac? What engine does it have? I am guessing you will have a great perspective on the various capabilities of the Alpha Chassis since you own it in two forms.

It's a nice car but I haven't really drove it. I moved it to wash it one day and that's about it. There's a lot of similarities in the interior features of it with the CUE system though.

It has the 2.0T engine. From riding in the passenger seat it does feel pretty ballsy for a 4 cylinder. The turbo definitely adds a little punch. She had a Toyota Corolla so I think it's a big difference for her.
