Yes, they do. For instance, there are many Phoenix area cities that have them (e.g. Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley). I have seen the mobile units in Phoenix, Prescott Valley and Scottsdale. Some of the red light cameras can be reporgrammed to do the "speed on green" function where it tracks your speed between the induction loops in the pavement. In short, no radar needed.
That Multanova 6F is a pretty nasty camera from what I have read about it. For instance, its radar has a vertical polarity that makes it very hard for most detectors to pick up until you are in the zone to get snapped. Couple that with the fact that the radar is low powered. Chicago, on the other hand, is going full tilt with theirs. They are even putting them in school zones. IL already does photo radar in construction zones. |
