I take it not dramatic enough of a departure for you and too similar to the 5th gen. Which if that is the case, makes your 5th gen a first base hit?

Tooo similar to 5th Gen (and I really don't like the hood nostrils if they're on). I was expecting better. Don't think we'll see back to back home runs. I'll let the rest of the forum reply to your reference of the 5th Gen being a single after 6 yrs of sales records.

I think his render, if accurate, looks like a more refined version of the 5th gen, and that is what appeals to me.

That's what I was trying to get out, the 5th gen was a huge hit so why "reinvent the wheel" in terms of looks. It's one thing to say you hoped for more radical changes but you still think the car is great looking. A lot of people on here (not necessarily you) talk like they hate the looks, but yet they have a 5th gen. It's like saying your wife's twin sister is hideous.

Maybe true. I know a lot of people in the Ford camp did not like the new car's looks and assured everyone it would flop. We will have to wait and see.

The render is great.
The car that Chazcron is rendering is not. 1) the quarter window is misshapen (looks like the quarter window from a mid-'70s Ford Falcon (from Australia). Not American muscle/pony car looking at all 2) the rear quarter panel shoulder line is wrong. It dives too far downward as you trace it from back to front 3) the upper fender line is wrong. It snuggles up too close to the belt line and doesn't meet the rear quarter shoulder line 4) the side coving is wrong. It's deeper in the front than the rear (opposite of the 5th gen). Plus, it's not sharply defined. There's no edge between the body side and the start of the coving. 5) the wheel arches are ill-defined. There is no crease between the body side and the start of the arch. 6) the side lost it's mid-line crease (runs thru the middle of the door). 7) and I'm not sure about this (because it's hard to see), but I think the C-pillar lost its faceting. Overall, the new car comes across as much softer than the current car. Not sure the new, softer look is appropriate for an American muscle/pony car. Will have to wait for reveal for final judgment/opinion.

The side coving is mimicking the new Stingray's as are the wheel arches. Now those other points I can see but I do not see it as anything negative. Like I said it looks more refined. A natural progression of design. "Evolutionary, not Revolutionary" that's what they were going for and I think that's what we see. But as I have said its all subjective, some will love it, some will hate it and some will jump on whichever bandwagon is most popular....

I think they have a better chance at a 6th gen home run with an evolution of the 5th gen, which was a Grand Slam, imo. Rather than trying to come up with a new design and get a home run.

To my sensibility, it looks like a watered down version. Homogenized for mass consumption. The bourgeois take on the 5th Gen's edgier visual design cues. And that's what doesn't appeal to me. Then again, we could all be surprised come 5/16. The devil is in the details. |

I think to be fair, we need to let the 6th Gen be revealed before we can compare. Right now you are comparing a heavily camoed Camaro to a Camaro you been watching for 6 years
