Dissappointed that Camaro NOT built in USA

Don't get me wrong I love my camaro but I'm disappointed that the car company that the USA bailed out is building cars in Canada and NOT the USA....

Then I heard they had an opportunity to build them in Oklahoma and help grow the jobs here....

I just hope in the near future that something is done where the USA is given some of those jobs....

The men and women of Oshawa who build these cars are very dedicated and do an outstanding job. The fact that they are built in Canada is nothing new though. GM has been building cars and parts on foreign soil long before the bailout.

I'm disappointed that the Camaro isn't built in America too. Also, even on the window sticker, it states that the Engine is from Mexico and the Transmission from France.

And yes...to agree with NavyDood...the Fourth Generation Camaro was built in Canada as well (I had a 1994 Model Camaro), but in understanding what Baltimorejohn1 means, it is a bit of a let down that a Chevrolet Camaro is built outside of the states, it really should be built in America.

Let's face it, the slogan doesn't go like this:

"The heartbeat of Canada, is today's Chevrolet".

What's next to build in Canada...Harley Davidson's?

It's still an American company. The Oshawa build team does a fantastic job. My car came fresh from the factory and it was perfect perfect perfect.

When it comes right down to it, how much of anything is built in our great country anymore?

Sad but true. Chevrolet still is and always will be the "Heartbeat of America"

My 2011 Camaro is running well also, not even stupid little interior blurbs that are annoying because they aren't quite right (you know, how there is almost always something that doesn't line up, etc...). Well my Camaro (like the one Stone*ColdNuts drives) doesn't have any of those problems either.

All in all, I am currently a Chevrolet guy, and I always will be.

even though Louis Chevrolet himslef was Swiss. The reality is that car companies are using a global business model to build and deliver cars to a world wide market.

I love my camaro and I have no problems with the fact that it is built with pride by our brothers (and sisters) to the north. If you want an American car you can get a Hyundai.
