Track wheelset
I'm looking at a second set of wheels to run Hoosiers at the track.
Options are: 19 x 11, which would allow me to run 305/30 Trofeo R, NT01s, or 315/30 Hoosiers. 18 x 11 up front, and 18 x 12 in the rear, which would allow me to run 315's in the front, and 345's in the rear. Any recommendations from those of you who track your cars? |

This topic was discussed some time ago. I don't have time to search for the thread here right now, but give it a go.
At the time I don't think there were any wheels available that folks felt were strong enough to run on the track on a Z/28. Personally I'll be buying another factory set unless a viable alternative becomes available before next spring.

I believe the problem discussed was that 18s do not allow for proper wheel to caliper clearance. There are quite a few options for race wheels or just get another factory set.

Depending on the offset, there is interference with most 18" wheels. The inner lip will contact the knuckle where the threaded hole is for the set screw used when doing front end alignments. This area of the knuckle can be cut or ground down on an angle......but most are not comfortable with doing this.

I've been told that the 18's will clear, no problem.
I am curious to see what wheel/tire combos other track guys are running... no need to reinvent the wheel if I don't need to. I'm leaning towards the 19 x 11s, as those are near OEM. |
