1LE Gears in a 2012 2SS

I have been running into road block on finding out how much it will cost to add the 1LE gears to my car ..... one dealership said they dont know where to get the reflash programing. the other said they cant do that on the dealer ship level. When I know Damn well it is a added option for all 2010 and up Camaros...I had to educate both of them it was even a option to do what gives..... not like I asked them to do a ZR1 motor swap or some thing.....WTF

shopchevyparts.com (a Chevy dealership in Florida) has them up for a pretty reasonable price. Then all you'd have to do is find an installer (unless that's you).

dealers can't tune the speedo yet. they might be able to soon. You would have to have a engine tune or find a tuner that will do the speedo tune. Black Bear will do it for $55 but it will void your warranty just as if you were tuning the car. Dealers want to sell you the complete 1LT rear end. Most dealers know nothing about doing anything but adding gm accessories and replacing gm parts with stock parts.

I should have bought a ZL1

So a dealer can install them???

Also what will the gears do to interstate driving and top speed numbers?
If I get these for my car will it wind up at 4K RPMs at 80 on the interstate and slaughter my already fragile gas mileage?

That's what you'd think and we'll they won't but adjusting your speedo and odometer to read correctly will. Even if the dealer were to use the 1LE calibration it'll still void the warranty.

If you want the ultimate acceleration off the line, look no further than this shorter gear ratio. This ring and pinion comes out of the 1LE, and the higher numeric ratio gives your fifth-gen Camaro a dramatic increase in acceleration. The drive gear increases effective rear-wheel torque multiplication by 13 percent in a manual-transmission Camaro SS, and a whopping 20 percent in automatic cars. The complete 3.91 Performance Gear Kit includes the ring and pinion, all hardware, shims, gaskets, oil additive, and instructions (included, not shown). The 3.91 gear installation requires recalibration, which is installed by a GM dealer. Application for a CARB E.O. has been made at the time of this writing.

That is wrong!! The warranty is not voided if dealer installed and dealer does the CALC update. The update I was just informed 2 days ago got approval from California which is the last state they where waiting on. They told me my dealer should be able to tune my by the end of this month.

3.91's = $250 (from Maureen @ Rodgers Chevrolet).

4.10's/4.11's = Probably around $500 (aftermarket Richmond gears).

Math, my friend.

If you already have 3.45 gearing, 3.91 divided by 3.45 = 1.1333, so overall your RPM's will be approximately 13% higher at any given speed versus the 3.45 gearing.

If you have 3.27's, the number would be about 19.6%.

And so on.

you will lose 1-2 mpg highway and might gain a little city because the car the gears make it easier on the engine. if the dealer does everything it wont void your warranty. but until the can do the speedo update the retune will void it. sounds like it will be any day now that they will be able to tune it.
