oil change Dexos
Gm changes oil I heard with Dexos 1 Synthetic Blend....Can you request they use Mobil 1 if you pay for it? Or if they do change the oil in your Camaro at the dealer must they use Dexos? How bad is Dexos in comparison to Mobil 1 or Amsoil? I am in a situation that I cannot change my oil where I am at....Any replies? Thanks fellow Camaro friends...

My first free oil change cost an extra $25 for them to use Mobil 1. My second oil change at a different dealer said their Dexos oil was full synthetic made by the company that makes Mobil 1.

I just came to the dealer with my 10qt of Mobil 1 bought to Walmart in my trunk
Plus the magnetic plug to replace the non magnetic OEM I asked to look in order to do it myself home in the future They were nice to accept Just stop the tech on time when he was about to fill a can of non ref oil coming from their non ref tank !!!!! Put my Mobil 1 in and my mag plug with no extra cost... Just ask Who knows In fact, needed just the lift.... |

There is nothing wrong with any Dexos 1 Spec oil. There is no problem using your own oil meeting Dexos 1 spec oil either. If you still have your two free oil changes use them, then you can bring in your own oil or use the dealers.

Dealer-supplied Dexos1 oil is now fully-synthetic just like Mobil 1, too. And it's supplied by ExxonMobil, too! Nothing wrong with using Dexos oil for the free oil changes...wasting money to do Mobil 1.

The new fully synthetic ACDelco Dexos1 5W-30 is essentially Mobil Super Synthetic. I asked the Exxon Mobil reps when they visited the dealership where I work.

^^ What he said. Also from the area and some of my fellow Engineering grads who work at Exxon in Beaumont will tell you...Acdelco is cheaper Mobil oil.

Dexos is a certification, not a brand. Lots of oils have Dexos cert.
FYI, now there's Dexos1 gen2 that must be full-syn. Not to be confused with Dexos2 certification that's recommended for track-days.

Really what you have to really be concerned with, with dealer oil changes is actually having them fill you with the correct amount of oil.
