A 1LE is almost neutral setup so it is not the car, it is the driver. Like others have said go to a driving school to learn how to get the most out of your car.

Slow in, fast out. This is probably what your instructor will tell you about turns. It is easy to remember too. It works for autocross, road course, or on the street.
Make sure the nose of the car is down (foot off the go pedal) at turn in, or the car will want to go straight. Think about it: if you are punching the accelerator, the rear tucks down, the nose lifts, (the front actually gets light, and the tires can't bite to make the turn happen).

If you have a 1LE then i am pretty sure it is driver derived issue. As you said you may have been too fast, all autox events i have been to offer free instructors. Don't waste money on suspension upgrades until you understand the car, how to keep it balanced, etc.

Repetitious message, too fast into the corners. Pick a speed so that you can accelerate out of the corners, just don't accelerate too hard and kick the rear out. The 1LE is great for autocross, just the tires need to be warmed up on cool days. Don't be jerky with the wheel either, smooth turns and don't shuffle the hands if possible (9 and 3). I air up my tires to 38 to keep the outside roll minimal. Grab an experienced autocrosser to ride with you, and ride with other autocrossers.
