Oil question...

So, seems like my car is leaking oil.... Pretty sure that's what it is. I've taken it in for both recalls, A8 V8.

How much oil should be on the dipstick? Where should it go up to? Also, how can I tell if it's low other than the dipstick, the oil pressure meter in the car shows pretty normal levels when flooring/revving it.

Here's a picture of my garage floor and towel...

Did you craw under the car and check to see if the oil filter or Oil drain bolt is lose? It's a tight fit under there you might have to jack it up to check. Or just take it in to the dealer.

that's a lot of oil.

your dipstick has a tiny portion of cross-hatches ...the oil level should be clearly seen within those hatch marks. Not above..not below. Anywhere within is fine.

It is within those hatches, but it's not very easy to see, but definitely in those hatches when I dip it in and out.

Not sure what's going on. I've had the oil pan recall fixed and the trans fluid recall fixed :/ - I also HAVE to be somewhere in an hour and just worried, the dealer can't get me in until Friday.

EDIT: It's about halfway up on the hatch marks on the dip stick.

Could be anything besides oil? Oil pressure and temps tire are fine as of now. I plan to garage it when I get home but I had to make it to class tonight

Like tranny fluid?

Trans fluid would be red.....without getting under to attempt to find where it's coming from is just a guessing game.

Gotcha! Thanks, so it's probably oil. But it's halfway up the rivets on the dip stick, and oil pressure is fine so idk what's going on. Guess I'll find out Friday. This would happen right before I get all the parts for my build.

There's also 10 quarts of oil in our cars, so the dipstick might not reflect a leak like that immediately

some pictures of the undercarriage would go a long way potentially to guessing what it is before the dealer gets it tomorrow.

I'm guessing they screwed up the oil pan installation/fix or didn't properly install the filter.

Not much else that i can think of that they would have touched unless it's a totally new issue (unlikely).
