Remember when the 2005 C6 Corvette roof panels would do this?

I'm saying this just for conversation not to get someone to think this was a stock hood. There is no way it was.

What he said...

That's the bottom half of a two piece (aftermarket) composite hood. The bottom half should be designed to strengthen the top. Looks like it was only attached on the outside edges, and a little in the center.

What aftermarket hood is that?

I'm betcha when you got up to speed you could see the hood appear to lift and vibrate.

The blue areas are the only place it appears it was bonded to the top half... not good.

Yes I was there. You have to have the right adhesive for the materials you are bonding. There is a lot of engineering and testing necessary to confirm the materials and conditions.

You can't just glue $(;/:(@ together.

A good composite hood should look more like this from the underside... If those ribs are bonded completely to the top, the only failure this hood will see is at the attachment points... most likely.

I'd be careful with aftermarket hoods, they could be guillotines in a head-on crash... ever wonder what those hooks are for on the underneath of a hood near the hinges?
