I was sure it was BS but after being there for 2 hrs the mgr pops in and I ask him when he thought the delivery date would be. He gave me a web site and tracking number. Then started to yak about the top cut off. I said no its designed to be a convert. He kept yaking about it. I told him if thats the case they should send me the cut off top since I paid for it. He then left the office.

Every time I visit a dealer it seems to get worse and worse regarding their car IQ. I was getting a warranty service done on my car at a dealership in town so I walked up to look at the new Impalas they got it. Dude came out and started talking to me about them. Said I love the new LTZ, looks great. His reply - "Yea but you can only get the I4 in the LTZ, no V6."
I said..."This one has the V6 in it...."

Convertible assembly
Convertible bodies are designed and built with added structural supports to strengthen the bodies due to the lack of a full metal top for support. To answer your question "no" they do not cut the top off.
A dealer and Salesperson should know their product. I suggest more training or a visit to the assembly plant to see how it is assembled. |

Since Belle Vernon, PA is nearby Pittsburgh maybe Fbodfather can borrow some Black SUV's from Tom Henry and have a talk with dealer.

The only difference in the chassis is extra underbody bracing and some internal bracing, The trunk isn't any smaller, until you put the top down. But there is no rear seat pass through because of the extra structure in the convertible. Plus you get a free subwoofer between the rear seats in the convertible. And we have rear windows that go down.

I think the Camaro and Firebird both had it done back in the 80's.

Time for a road trip. Such stupidity must be seen and heard to be believed.
