ZL1 goin Australian Supercar racing.

Starting in the '22 and beyond, yet rumor is production ends in '23? https://gmauthority.com/blog/2020/10...ercars-series/

This is interesting. And the Camaro will be racing Mustangs too. The article thinks this means the Camaro ZL1 will be sold in Australia under the new GMSV brand.

It already has - and I believe the run of 350 ZL1s is done.

How do you like that! Chevy will screw us folks here in the US and sell the ZL1 in Australia 2022 and beyond with no plans for a Camaro here. Thank you Chevrolet.

This article isn't as positive about Camaro in supercars relating to the production car ... see the last two paragraphs:

I think the run was only 270 in Oz with 27 or similar actually going accross the ditch to New Zealand according to my HSV dealer.

Unless I have misread these articles - the cars are full on race cars all running the same chassis with production outer body panels grafted on. So while this thing will look like a ZL1 it will be a hand built race car. It’s great it’s happening and it will give the Camaro nameplate some visibility but in the big scheme of things for GM I don’t think it means much for the future of the Camaro.

you need to be more positive.

The big thing, and I don't care enough to check, is the rules.

If it has to be a current production car to race it, then that is really good new for the us. I doubt anyone would go into a race series, with marketing for a 1 year run.

If you can pick the 2017 Commodore and race it well then not so good.

V8 Supercars Gen 3 Camaro

Here is what we have been led to believe will be racing in V8 Supercars 2023
HSV have ceased converting Camaros. there are only a handful of new for sale at the last remaining Holden dealers. Who knows what's next
