Yes. The Supercar G3’s are like most other ‘summer-only’ tires.
Cold weather (consistently below 32F) can crack them if driven. I didn’t have an issue with tires when storing my cars for the winter while I was in Colorado. I was at altitude and would routinely see below 0F for weeks.

Hey brother.
I have my new 18 1LE resting out in the garage right now with her summer only tires. I'll post in the spring when I take her out again. Yes, with an update on how the tires made it through the cold. |

The 1LE summer tires are like most summer tires. From the 2018 performance supplement: It is recommended that winter tires be installed on the vehicle if frequent driving at temperatures below approximately 40°F or on ice or snow covered roads is expected.
High performance summer tires have rubber compounds that lose flexibility and may develop surface cracks in the tread area at temperatures below 20°F. Always store high performance summer tires indoors and at temperatures above 20°F when not in use. If the tires have been subjected to 20°F or less, let them warm up in a heated space to at least 40°F for 24 hours or more before being installed or driving a vehicle on which they are installed. Do not apply heat or blow heated air directly on the tires. |

Yes, read the service bulletin, some of the stuff people are saying above is incorrect. Below 20, danger of cracking. Below 40, significantly less traction and driving is not recommended. I just got these built up for my 1LE, which exists, but is not yet at the dealer. I used to drive P-zeros all the time in freezing temps, but rarely less than 20 and it would always heat up pretty fast in the day. Things to consider is that asphalt may be significantly warmer in the sun, driving heats up your tires, etc. These may cause different temps than the air temperature. But, you can also cold soak a car leaving it out at night in the cold, so it can be below the air temperature in those cases. Good rule of thumb, the higher performance your tires are, the less flexible they will be (in terms of ability to be driven in varying temperatures), and the tires on the 1LE are pushing the more extreme edge of high performance, so these are not the tires to drive in the cold. If it comes and it's above 20, I'll likely limp it home. If it's less than that, I'll have the dealer put on the wheels I built or trailer it home and switch them myself.
I just got these finished up today, 19x8.5s with 15mm offset and 255/40s. Blizzaks. |
