why do people buy pro touring 1st gen camaros?
I dont understand, you could spend the same/less and have a better performing car with real air con/brakes hud and a warranty if you bought a new camaro

Because they want to race a first gen Camaro., regardless of if there are faster cars out there for the same/less money.

While I love my gen6 SS. It is no gen1 Camaro. Example, pull into a car meet or car show with even a well modified gen6, then watch another guy pull in with a bone stock ‘69 Camaro SS. Guaranteed the ‘69 will get far more attention.

The 6th Gen is just the current model that will get pushed aside when the next gen gets here, same as the 4th and 5th Gen. The 1st Gen is TIMELESS. On top of that, a Pro-Touring 1st Gen takes work, it's not some factory cookie cutter car. There's a sense of pride and accomplishment with the work put into them. Doesn't even have to be pro touring. Just a well built car with some aftermarket suspension goodies is alot of fun. Nevermind the Brodix headed 496 and Tremec T56....

I love the 69 camaro. Every time I think about my next project I look at old camaros. Each time I end up going with a late model car. Some day I will do a classic. The problem is those old camaro sell for a ton of money.

Yeah. 4-6k for a box of rusty parts and a chassis missing quarters. Noooop. Not to mention, after years of resto and tens of thousands of dollars, I sure as hell would be tip-toeing around taking it out amongst the jackoffs who can't be bothered to actually drive nowadays instead of treating their cars like a living room.

It's a matter of taste and preference. Not everyone is in love with new cars especially the high overall cost that comes with it. Some want the look of a classic car with the performance of a modern powertrain. Hard to beat and very popular. A well built pro touring car is basically a brand new old car anyway. Personally I would love a early 2nd gen TA with a monster LS motor and trans.

Reminds me of this bad ass 2nd gen Camaro that we saw at Barrett Jackson last year. See if I can find it. Edit; got it. Man this was a beauty
