Metro Detroit Former GT500 Owner - Now ZL1

Just posted in the "New Members Section" but also wanted to say "hi" over here....

Trading in my '08 GT500 for a new '13 ZL1 Rally Yellow 6M Vert later this week. For the past 5 years have totally enjoyed the GT500 - meeting my engine builder (here in Michigan), Mustang's Chief Engineer, and hanging with the Shelby club (both at Shelby events and at the Woodward Dream Cruise) - a very cool group. Now that I'm joining the "other team" I'm looking forward to building camaraderie both online and hopefully in the Metro Detroit area. Now I've just got to watch my new ride sit in the garage for several months

Here are a couple pics of the "old" ride. Apparently it's headed to Vegas.

Will get some pics up of the new ride when I pick it up at the dealer (good guys at Les Stanford).

Also, any other ZL1 members from came from the GT500, would be great to hear your personal "pros" and "cons" from your old ride.

Les Stanford in Dearborn? I walk by that lot every day. Best Chevy lot I've ever came across.

I like the interior of your '08 GT500 car over the upcoming '15 version. Congrats on your new purchase and Welcome to Camaro5

Congrats. I think you'll be happy with The ZL1. I'm near you in Shelby Twp at 26 & Dequindre.

Welcome and you'll love the drivability of the ZL. Please do tell us how it goes when you go to the next Mustang club meet in your ZL. Remember to laugh lots when they get upset with you.

beautiful gt500 you had there. I would have had a very hard time letting it go. nothing wrong with letting both cars share the same garage.

Welcome aboard! I had a 2011 gt 500 before I traded it in. What did it for me is I modded it pretty heavily but not like my zl1 and the damn thing wouldn't stick to save its life. I'm pushing 100 more horse power in my zl1 and it sticks. I think the Shelby needs some rear end work! But great car none the less. You will love your new car!
