Is it better to buy a new ZL1 or a used with some bolt ons ?

What would you do, or of done ? If you had a chance to buy a new ZL1 or would you buy a used low mile under 4k miles on it with a bunch of bolt on's and its a vert. It has the normal pulley's headers, rotofab ,GT9 cam ,tuned ,and a bunch of carbon fibers add ons, along with all the trim blacked out in carbon. its 59 out the door where as its 65k to 68k for a new vert or about 58 to 60k for a new hard top out the door.
Is that new car smell along with having all the stock parts worth the extra 5-8k plus the extra 10k to get all the same work done if i choose to do so.
The fact that someone installed a cam sort of worried me that the warranty might me gone, and if i ever sold it i couldnt put it back to stock.
So tell me what would you of done ? its black on black...I wanted the dark red really bad but man was it worth the almost 20k ?

Depends if factory drive train warranty is important to you or not. If you want the warranty then go new ...

Depends on what you want. With a vert there are really only 3 or 4 months in Houston per year where you will enjoy it with the top down, plus it is a little bit more in upkeep.
With a coupe you don't have those worries.

Bottom line get what you like the most and have no regrets.

I've been burned to many times on buying modded cars. I'd buy a stock one and mod it myself. My .02

It has to be new for me (it can be dealer stock depending on the deal). The zl1 is a bit expensive to settle for second hand IMO; On the other hand, if you can score one at a great deal and lightly used then it may be worth a look-see.

Probably modded up and then sat in the garage till the owner decided he wanted something else. Will the dealer give you a warranty? If they can't price should be substantially lower. Who knows may have been modified by Lingenfelter , or Hennessy. Drive it, take it to a reputable shop you deal with and have them look it over ( not the dealer ). My 2010 IBM 2SSRS had 2743 miles on it when I purchased it 2 mos ago. Original owner bought it and it sat in his garage, until I bought it. People buy these cars just to look at them, or until something else excites them. Then it's on to the next. All those mods, low mileage, I'd be all over it like stink on poop! But that's me. Get the vin and do a search will probably answer a lot of questions you have and put your mind at ease, may even be able to contact original owner.

I bought a used ZL1 that had been previously modded from a member here. It was at a local dealership but he returned it to stock form along with the tune. The dealership didnt know and they made it a CPO. Needless to say I sold it recently. However I didn't have any issues with it when I took possession of it. I had gotten a great deal on it when I bought it.

ZL1s are fairly cheaper then when first released. You can get a 2012 for about $46-49k now and high mileaged 2013 for almost the same as well.

Warranty is gone. Stick with an unmodded car and play with it to your liking. Warranties are nice to have on any vehicle north of 40k. I do a lot of work on my own vehicles to know the value of a warranty. Plus everyone likes wholesome girl next store not the Wh#@r* down the block, wait depends what you are into...

I would just buy new. You really aren't saving all that much by buying used/low mileage and the warranty is a huge deal to me.

It would depend on who owned and tuned the car...

Do ya prefer that new car untouched feeling or do ya want that who knows who rat bagged this car before I got it feeling. A few bucks saved on a used ZL1 but new is new and the feeling is worth the extra bucks! Compare it to a fresh run of untouched powder or the first tee time of the day. Just way more times multiplied!! BUY A NEW one!
