Zl1 1LE Rear Wing...STOP THE CONFUSION

I have read almost every thread regarding install of a 1LE wing on a ZL1 Non 1LE... I have a 2017 ZL1 that I take to COTA on a regular basis...

Can I put this wing on my ZL1.

Is my trunk lid reinforced... are the '18 trunk LIDS actually different?

I have seen people say that after inspection of both models, the trunk LIDS are identical.

Then i have seen posts that there is a bulletin from GM saying the '17 lid will buckle...

Does anyone have this wing on a non 1LE that has put a lot of speed on it and gotten damage from It?

Just want to put this to rest...

Thanks for your input...

I predict this is a question there will never be a definitive answer for. People say they are identical, GM says 2018 is reinforced for the Uber down forces!!!! ......which could possibly be marketing hype. Bet we’ll never know unless someone is willing to buy one of each and cut them up

Im guessing that if there was any damage being caused to all the cars with these wings put on aftermarket, we would have heard about it by now.

Maybe. Maybe the lack of reinforcement is only problematic after 150mph.....which isn’t exactly something everyone does all that frequently haha.

Ask al

Could be a great question for the "ask AL" section.

I have seen people running the stock 1LE carbon spoiler at track days on Standard ZL1s and even SSs. Did not notice anything wrong or hear any complaints about that. At a standard track day for for an non-pro racecar driver, maybe the speeds are not high enough to cause any worry...? I read in several places that the "300lbs of downforce" created by the aero parts on the ZL1 1LE are @ about 150mph...not sure if that is true, but if it is, not sure how many non-pro drivers can maintain that kind of speed for any significant amount of time at a non-competition track day....

Personally, once I complete some other basic mods on my list, I do plan to add the spoiler to my standard ZL1. I do run track days every month and don't have a lot of concern after watching others running them...hope that helps some

Well, I posted the question in Ask Al question. Lets get some votes for this. I think this going to be more useful for a lot of 2017 owners. Also, from a safety standpoint, we deserve an answer for this. Would appreciate some votes for this when the time comes around. If there is any language that needs to be changed in my thread, let me know.

I haven't had a problem. Only tracked it for 20 miles though. MRLS I am around 134 at turn 1/straight.

This isn’t enough proof for me. I’ll be “sold” if they have different part numbers.
