Which pioneer Head unit to buy

Looking to have Metra Kit installed with 7 inch screen this week. Any recommendations on the head unit. I was told by shop to consider the newer Pioneers with Apple Play. Seems like most of the Head Units come fully loaded with tons of options.

Most of the functions I would use are Local Radio, Ipod and then Navigation if not wanting to use my Waze app. 90 percent of the time use the Waze app for navigation needs. However, if nice Nav option in car might use that more often.

I have recently installed two of the AVH-X5600BHS head units in two of my cars, love them! I did not want on-screen navigation, though it can be added if I want it. I like my Garmin or the cell phone for Nav, much cheaper to update that way. In fact, just got two free tablets from Verizon so I want to try Google Maps on there instead of the Garmin next time I need Nav.

I did use the DVD played for music for a little while (can burn a DVD with 4.7g's of MP3's, that is a TON of music!). Now I only use the USB stick (32g's of MP3's.) I let the wife leave her DVD in the head unit, now we both have our music to listen to and don't need to swap DVD's or USB sticks.

These are really nice head units for the price. I can't tell you about their power since I have them running into Pioneer amps anyway.

I did not change the headunit in my Camaro simply because I like all the integration it has with the HUD and steering wheel. If it wasn't for that, I would have a third Pioneer headunit. I know they came out with the X5700BHS now to replace the model I have.

I bought the 8100 nex today on Amazon for $900 and thought pretty good deal considering. I looked at the newer 4100 but wanted nav built in and faster processor in case not hooking up phone for apple play.

Is $900 bad?? I was thinking pretty good considering the 4100 is around $600.

I was thinking $300 difference didn't seem too bad given dedicated nav and faster processor.

Plus car toys was quoting me $1300

I don't know if its bad or not comparatively. I just know I'm not paying that much for a head unit unless it can actually give me head hahahahahahahahahahahaha

Personally I'd go with the 4100, it's a great unit, I put it in my dads Silverado, myself I have an INE-w957hd alpine that's 2-3x as much as the NEX and tbh, kinda like the NEX unit more. Nav isn't an issue if you have an iPhone, because your iPhone maps will mirror onto your head unit and seriously works great.

I ended up putting in the 8100 Nex and works fantastic. Very quick moving in between screens and no complaints so far. I wanted nav to be part of the head unit and not having to rely on phone for all navigation needs. Sometimes I just like having the map open while driving. You can do that with car play but found it easier just having it on radio
