Camaro already had a 4 cyl. It was in '82 - '84 only.

So you are saying 7 second 0-60 for this wonder engine? The current V6 Camaro is heavy and beats that-- in a lighter car IT will have better mpg!

The Toyota Camry hybrid could compete with what you are claiming though--2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid 0-60 mph 7.2 Quarter Mile 15.5

I have to set something straight here.

If Chevy uses a turbo 4 you can bet your behind that it will have AT LEAST....at least 265HP/280TQ....and that's only if they offer an N/A 6 cylinder version and the 6 is considered the more expensive performance option.

If they go Fords route, and make the turbo the option then again you can bet it will have right at 300HP or more, and likely 310TQ or more.

At 3,350 lbs, which is completely feasible if they use the ATS chassis the 265HP version will likely be about the same if not a hair better than the current V6 (probably as quick or quicker 0 - 60 but maybe a bit slower in the 1/4 mile).

The 300+ HP version will easily be quicker in all aspects than the current Camaro V6.

I'm no turbo 4 fanboy...just pointing out the facts. I can't believe you'd honestly think they'd stick a 200HP turbo engine in this car.

Yes I believe they would stick a 200 hp engine in this car. I remember the iron Duke.

YOU just compared it to a Prius. As if someone who wanted a Prius would want to compare Camaro, or a Camaro owner should consider Prius for performance reasons.

If what you guys are saying about cafe and mpg are true, they would DEFINETLY
shoot for all the mpg they could. Right?

Make it 40 mpg! A hybrid Prius appliance thingy with no soul.

It's justified by your logic to increase sales and make nice with the cafe jack boot wearers.

I don't understand why all the V8 guys are in here right now. GM clearly IS NOT getting rid of the V8 anytime soon, so why do you care what the other available engines are? IMO I'd rather see a turbo 4 with 310+ tq than a NA 6 with only 260 tq. If you want a V8, you'll still be able to get it.

Dude. You drive an SS. I can't take your question seriously since you posted here. Ask a Corvette owner if he cares if they make an Eco economy 4 cylinder Vette station wagon. I bet you find guys that wouldn't like it...

I can't take you seriously. Your comments are just too out there and off the wall. No rationalism.

It would be nice if we weren't talking to a brick wall, but yet here we are.

They're afraid it'll be too expensive and won't be able to afford it.

Who is the revychevy guy lol His posts make me laugh a lot. I don't see his point to what he is saying the fact that he has a LS3 SS Camaro and tries to tell another person that since he has a LS3 he cant be taken seriously so basically anyone with a V8 cant be taken serious. Lol some people. Oh I do hope they come out with a Turbo 4 for the 6th gen just so we can stick it to revychevy.

I said that because the guy said "why are people coming on here who drive a v8? When he came on here and drives a v8.

Km prenger I apologize, after reviewing posts it wasn't you who said "compare that time to a Prius" it was Lowdown. My bad.

For those of you who think I'm the only one that disagrees with the idea that the 4 banger is the greatest engine out there, or that the Camaro should be a hybrid gas sipper so they can sell high end V8s that are out of the average guys range-- you haven't been reading this thread.

If you're 50 years old, back in the mid-late-'70s when you were plastering your walls with HOT car posters, Chev did NOT make a Camaro with 200 hp. That didn't happen, after '74, until '87 when the L98 was jammed into Gen-3s...and it made less than 250 hp. The HOTTEST Gen-3 made? A PONTIAC...with a Buick-bred TURBO 6...
