Sometimes I'm stuck in a dump truck at work and by the end of the day I just don't feel like shifting anymore - especially when I'm eating McD's while driving on those ultra late and long hour days where I can't wait to make it home to eat but want to get home as quick as possible since its late and take a shower and relax, lol. Stick sucks real big time for trying to eat and drive. Auto is more comfortable for everyday driving (what I bought the car for) but admittedly I only drive with the tapshift anymore and put it in full auto when I'm eating behind the wheel (which I do try to avoid at all costs). I think auto with the tapshift is the best compromise. If I had bought a v8 that was specifically for a weekend play toy I might consider a manual for raw fun-factor but that would never happen since I buy a vehicle because I want to enjoy it everyday as a daily driver and I'm not the type of person to just drive and burn up gas for no reason - I rarely just go for a joy drive without some purpose behind it (shopping, errands, etc.)

I really would have to agree with ya... I have had many manual muscle cars and really enjoyed them but the Auto is definitely the better daily driver while manual is the more fun take your car out once or twice a week car... and the paddles with a JRE tune are a dam close runner up to the manual, best of both world's!!!
I do miss my standard sometimes though, as to be expected but glad I finally tried an auto... very happy!!!

Manual, my SS is no commuter car 426 HP Brembro brakes super handling tires that wear out really quickly at $300 each. Eating a Mc Ds while driving my car is a total waste of resources. I do see some people smoking while riding there motorcycle but it just doesn't add up. There is nothing better than shifting braking steering and accelerating on the back roads of New England. True sports cars have the engine connected directly to the rear wheels.

I've had both and personally prefer a standard....makes me feel more in tune with driving the car. I don't think either is bad though. I've seen some guys that have their auto tranny's tuned with a shift kit and stall speed converters and their cars launched hard and would give any standard a run for their money. All in the way you have them setup. Don't like the auto stock though...to me they shift too lazy.
