what if the IROC name came back

Okay some people were askin if there were going to be anything more powerful than a z28 or if that was going to be it from factory. Well i come to speculation that what if GM brought back the IROC Badge, and what would it be equipped with. The reason i ask also is because ford has the super cobra jet for nhra, well what if this was GM's answer back to them for the track.
What are some of yalls inputs on this. All i ask is that we keep it civil on this subject please.

Meh - cool I guess; I was just never an IROC fan. I won't complain though!

GM doesn't own the IROC name so I doubt that would even be possible. What if Dodge wanted to put the IROC name back on the Charger too???

First thing you would have to bring back the I.R.O.C. series, then once that was up and going, GM would have to purchase the use of the name again like they did in the 80's.

I don't think they could do it otherwise.

Dodges only ran in this series from 1990-1995. They used Daytona Sheby Zs for 4 years then Avengers for the next 2. Never a Charger. After that it was Trans Ams until the series folded. The others was Porsche Carreras the first year in 1974 and Camaros from 1975-1989.

Not likely as GM doesn't own the name. But then again does anybody?

Frankly today, except for the F-body fans from 20 years ago, I don't think IROC means much in todays automobile marketplace. So from GM's standpoint, why would you pay somebody (whoever owns the rights) to put a name on your car that represents a non existent race series?

Just MO

As has been discussed several times on these forums, the IROC series/IROC governing body went bankrupt several years, all of their assets were sold at auction. I'm not aware of anyone having purchased the rights to use the IROC name in the future (nor have I seen any rumors about it anywhere on the net). GM and Chryler both had to pay a use fee for the right to use the IROC name years ago, neither one owns the name.
