auto, not great at driving stick and didnt want to learn in a $40,000 car plus i like how easy it is. just look at the road and arrive at your destination. paddle shifters are fun too

Manual because once I learned to drive stick I didn't want to go back to an auto. Plus I test drove the auto and I didn't like it, had no fun to it.

For the last 43 years, we have only bought manual transmission cars, and that's still the way we both want our cars equipped. Even now with both of us being in our mid-60's.

Yes, that means all of our general purpose family sedans have been "stick-shift". We have even jumped ship to different manufacturers two or three times when the mfr of the car we'd bought previously stopped offering the manual in the model we'd have looked at otherwise. Would jump ship again without batting an eye if we were in the market to buy today. It's been that important.

I do consider myself pretty damn lucky in regard to this particular matter.

On edit - Bruk, our kids pretty much had to learn how to "drive stick", and it's stayed with them. Daughter and son-in-law just traded in a Honda Pilot on a manual transmission compact Dodge Dart (turbo!) because she really wanted to get back to the manual shifting.

I have to admit I miss having a manual, however mine is a daily driver in a lot of stop and go traffic and I have seriously bad knees. Tap shift is OK but just not the same.

Must be nice and be in your 60's and not have Knee problems. The only real reason I didn't get a manual in my Camaro was when I had my first Sky back in 2006 I went on a long drive in the mountains it was a two day trip, lots of shifting, when I got home my left knee swelled up and I could hardly walk. I knew if it was going to be a car I was going to drive on lots of trips to the mountains it would have to be an automatic. Since I hardly ever drive my S10 I do have a Manual in it though.
