So talking with my neighbor who works at the plant told me there have only been approximately 5 of these cars produced so far, but they are not sure if any had shipped yet. There are still enough of the specific parts to make 7 more of this spec, but I don't know if there are enough parts to build the rest of the car.

Not sure how as the option never appeared in the order system. There was no way we as dealers could even order it.

Are they all identical cars with same transmissions and options? If so maybe they are going to build them all first before dealers get allocation? Maybe only certain dealers will be invited to the table?

Not likely as that's not how GM does their allocations. They don't build the cars first and then allocate them out. If they were all going to one dealer, then they probably informed the dealer/dealers that they were going to get them. I've guessed all along that they would all be going to Hendrick dealerships and if that's the case, they are probably all identical cars that will just be shipped to his dealerships. If that's the case, it makes sense that they never showed in the order system. There are still none of them showing up as orders or built cars in the dealer locator though.

They were all going to be 6 speed manual, no sunroof ZL1 coupes.

Based on my conversation, I can't confirm if they are built the same. They just saw the part count go down by 5, and the only way that happens is when a car is built.

If they are built they will probably start to show up in the window sticker searches we are doing for the CE ZL1's. Will keep my eyes peeled for any.

I was told hendricks was handling all 56 of the cars internally. Waiting to get a call when they do become available.

Here are some random allocation facts with the ZL1 CEs we've found so far:

5 allocations were given to Rick Hendrick Chevrolet (across 3 locations in FL, VA, and NC)

4 allocations were given to Hendrick Chevrolet (across 3 locations in NC and AL)

1 allocation was given to Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford in GA

We still have 118 more to find so numbers probably will go up, but Hendrick got the most allocations than any other dealership in the US so far.

Saw some info saying they will all be built by end of Nov. Delivery mid December.

My dealer isn’t sure about the transmission options. I hope the info about them all being 6 speed manual is correct. I have been harassing them about the Garage 56 car enough - if they get one I hope I get it.

Not entirely true. I occasionally counted parts when I worked at GM Janesville, and if my count didn't match the system inventory count, I made a manual adjustment to reflect the actual count. Having said that, it's not real common, and your scenario is more likely.
