DIY: ZL1 pull-strap for your trunk

Hello ZL1 owners,

The trunk closing situation REALLY bothers me on my ZL1 because I daily drive it and use the trunk for my work&fitness bags or items every time. So I came up with this ultra simple solution that anyone can do that is fairly handy.

Parts needed: Nylon Strap (I bought mine here https://www.ebay.com/itm/FIAT-500-Ab...vy-Duty-Nylon/)

Tools needed: Exacto Knife, T30 Torx, Trim removal tool

step 1) Remove the trunk liner
step 2) Use T30 Torx to remove the passenger side trunk latch fastener
step 3) Push fastener through the strap and re-install
step 4) Cut the slot just to the top right of the manual release access hole
step 5) Reinstall the liner and run the strap through the hole.
Step 6) Never scratch your paint again or put fingerprints on your trunk!

Enjoy your "Ryker" Mod & Have a nice day!

Bottom line is this should be called the “Ryker Mod.” Real talk. Patent and sell this item. Nice work.

Nice work! Wifey mentioned the other day the trunk didn't have a spot to close it. Great fix!

This is brilliant, for real though send me your paypal and I'll shoot you a few bucks because I've needed this so badly and never even put two and two together

Looks great! I usually just carefully make sure to only touch the flat/Black bow tie when closing the trunk which doesn’t retain any kind of prints. This looks to be much easier.

That is very nice of you! Here is a better idea, why don't you take that money and give it to a local Food Bank. I grew up very poor and Food Bank's fed me and my Mother more than once, do that instead.

A good idea, but a needlessly complex approach!

This is great man. Thank you for taking your time and energy to share this with us. Effort like this is what makes being apart of this community great. GM should have installed this from the factory. Will work on this project next weekend.
