Hhhhmmm...has your financial situation improved over what it was 6 months ago?

At the time you seemed relatively happy with your new LS. What happened?

Can you afford to get out of the LS and get into an SS? If money was tight 6 months ago, my guess is that you're not in a much better position today. You owe $23k on your LS and how much have you been told you'll receive for it on a trade-in?

Aaahhhh.... to be young and fiscally irresponsible. You live and you (hopefully) learn.

Getting further upside down, in my opinion, not a good idea.

Doesn't hurt to go into a dealer and see if he will pay off what you owe....

With the SS, will come additional expenses, less mpg, more expensive gas, and maybe a higher interest rate.

The choice is yours, and your future is what you make it.

You could always add some bolt-ons for a little more performance, I had the 2LT and was happy with it. Why did I trade up? Because I could and lost nothing on the trade and got a good deal on the 13 2ss/rs.

Do what is best for you, financially and "emotionally".

Good Luck.

Jim

I, as many others here, realize this is a really tough decision. By moving to an SS, you just might keep digging a deeper financial hole for yourself that will make you miserable until you pay off your debt. I, as others, believe you're making a very wise decision to keep what you have, be happy with it and appreciate the fact that there are a lot of people who WISH they could just drive a Camaro - ANY 5th Gen. Camaro. They wouldn't care if it's a 6 or an 8. You have a bad-ass car, and you're able to AFFORD it. You can't place enough value on that fact, alone.

Sometimes I think the V6 is a just a marketing tool to sell the SS. I know it was in my case. Just remember there is always something bigger faster stronger and newer. The car you own is an awesome ride. If you decide to make the jump you can figure in addition to a larger note about another 20% or so more a month for fuel, oil changes and tires over what that cost to run your V6.

Love my 2LT/RS ... sure, I wish it had two more cylinders, but, I'm going to pay it down until the 50th anni comes around in a few years and then look at trading on an SS :-) ... something to look forward too!

For now, I'm having fun with the addons and such on the 2LT. I'm no financial guru ... do you have a payment book? And does it have an extra line for additional payment toward principal? Just be sure to fill it in. I don't have a payment book, I receive a monthly statement. I called the bank and requested all additional monies paid to be applied to principal. Wasn't sure if they could or would apply to interest unless otherwise noted. Maybe someone else can clarify.

Something I'm doing while I'm biding my time is that I bumped up what I'm paying per month on my car to what I'd expect to (generously) pay for my V8 upgrade. That way I'm acclimated to what I will have to pay, I'll know that my lifestyle can afford it or not before I'm committed, and I'm paying off that much more principle on my potential trade in.

I got 22,500 for my 2011 2LT RS. I would think you could get close to what you owe..

Do like many of us, pick us a SS with low miles and begin with the Permagrin.

But, make sure you shop around and find the perfect one first! You have a camaro so there's no rush.

2.5 months and wish it was sooner.

Nothing against the V6 but hated feeling like I was wasting money paying on it when I wouldn't get it back and it could be going towards paying off an SS.
