psi/kpa accuracy?

How accurate is the reading on the display (or mychev app) in regards to the tire pressure? I just added air to all tires because the display looked as though I would have only ~30 psi, ~200kpa however while adding I had to get the air to about 40 before it read as 35-36 on the app.

I'll probably pick up a guage to test it, but just wondering if anyone knew if the car guage / app needs to be calibrated first?

How did you get the air to 40 psi if you don't have a gauge? If it was one of those gas station pumps with built in gauges, those are usually inaccurate.

That's what I meant... I was using the gauge on the gas station pump. So sounds like I can trust the accuracy of the display? That display doesn't have anything to do with TPMS which could have been not calibrated? (sorry , I know nothing about the TPMS system and how it works)

Just buy a digital gauge and use the kpa to set

I replace one of my GM vehicles almost every year and I have found the readings for tires to be either spot on or within a degree. The readout on the app is from your last drive so would be hot tire temp, no cold that you want.

The tire pressure monitors within each wheel are supposed to be accurate within 1 psi. I find them to deviate as much as 2 psi from my old school pencil style gauge. The digital gauges on amazon are accurate within 0.5 psi out of the box. Sounds good enough to me.

Good enough for DD use.
